I suffered from terrible morning sickness during my first trimester, so it was a relief when it finally went away. I haven’t had it for almost two months, and now suddenly at 23 weeks it is coming back. At first I though it was because I hadn’t eaten enough last weekend, because I got too distracted. Food seemed to quell my nausea then. But now it is starting to come back no matter how much I have eaten and I feel like iT has been too many times now to be coincidence. Is this normal?
I would have called my doctor but by the time I started dry heaving over the toilet, the office is now closed.
It comes & goes throughout pregnancy - some women feel nauseous all the way through, some women just in the first and/or third trimester. What you’re experiencing sounds normal to me.
Your doctor can prescribe something for you if you need it.
I’ve had it in the second tri, but make sure you mention it to your doctor when you get a chance.
With my third pregnancy i was nauseous/vomiting on and off the entire pregnancy. It would stop for a week or two and
Then come back with a vengeance.
Very annoying when you think your done with it but it is normal.
The (unproven) theory is that nausea in pregnancy is largely triggered by B-HCG. There is another big rise in the second trimester, which would account for your symptoms. Luckily in the third trimester your levels actually decrease some.
Also the growing uterus displaces the abdominal organs upwards and puts pressure on them. You might feel full earlier when eating and have a sudden increase in heartburn, and the physical pressure can translate into nausea too.
As long as it’s not accompanied by big red flags like headaches, blurred vision, impaired balance, etc it’s probably physiologic and not pathological.
Actually I feel more nausea in my 2nd trimester than my third (21.6 weeks).
But if it’s sudden it might be worth getting your blood pressure checked as it can be an indicator for high blood pressure.

Thanks everyone! I feel a lot better about it now. You have eased my concerns. I guess I just get nervous about every little thing since it is my first pregnancy.
