I live in rural Kansas where we are always at least 3 years behind (-: We are expecting our third, hopefully a boy and love the name [name]Owen[/name]…but is it too trendy? I only know of a couple around here, but I’m worried [name]Owen[/name] will be the next [name]Aidan[/name] and I like to keep out of the top 50…or even 100. Other names I like (but Hubby doesn’t) are
I love the name [name]Owen[/name], too. It is definitely a very popular name, but name popularity doesn’t bother me as much for boys–probably because there are not a ton of boys’ names I like, and even fewer that DH also likes. I like the other three names as well. Some other suggestions that you might like are [name]Everett[/name], [name]Elliott[/name], [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Martin[/name], or [name]Mitchell[/name].
I don’t really consider [name]Owen[/name] trendy or overly popular. It’s a nice, classic name.
Trendy to me is [name]Cullen[/name], [name]Jasper[/name] (anything named after a Twilight or Hunger Games character). And of course, #2 on the boys list this year, [name]Mason[/name]. Doesn’t get any trendier than that!
I agree, [name]Owen[/name] is popular, but I wouldn’t classify it as trendy. Coincidently, I just had a friend name her baby [name]Owen[/name], and she’s in Kansas too. I like the pp suggestions of [name]Bennett[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]. Here’s some others:
[name]Owen[/name] is certainly popular but definitely not trendy. [name]Owen[/name] has never left the top 1000, maybe even the top 500! [name]Aiden[/name] on the other hand did not enter the top 1000 until 1995 and was already in the top 100 by 2003. That is a much better definition of trendy.
Thanks for the responses - I don’t mind a few other [name]Owens[/name] as long as it’s not a “one hit wonder” kind of name like [name]Mackenzie[/name] among others. I just wonder if it really is classic because people from my mom’s generation look at me like I’m naming my kid Methuselah when I mention [name]Owen[/name] lol. I think it is an old man name to them. I love [name]Evan[/name], but we have one in the family…I think [name]Gavin[/name] is my favorite of your suggestions. I’ll have to bring them all up to the hubby and see what he thinks. Again, thanks so much! We may just use [name]Owen[/name] after all (-;
I think it’s very trendy on Nameberry, but I haven’t seen it much on a few other baby name forums I frequent. Personally, I don’t know of any little [name]Owens[/name] running around - there are a million Aidens, Cadens, Braydens, Michaels, Liams, and Colins, though.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Miles[/name], but husband only thinks of [name]Miles[/name] [name]Davis[/name] and I have to be careful with one syllable names because our last name has only one syllable and it can sound to “brusque” is the word, I guess. [name]Declan[/name] is cool too - but it is becoming very popular in these parts. I guess name popularity varies from area to area. You’ve given me a couple more to think about for my list. Thanks!
I like [name]Owen[/name]. It’s got a sound that’s popular at the moment, the en/an ending, but it’s not a flash-in-the-pan name made up to cash in on that, like [name]Zayden[/name], [name]Kayden[/name] et. al.
That said, some other names with that kind of sound that I like are: [name]Linden[/name], [name]Ronan[/name], [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Samson[/name], [name]Cillian[/name], [name]Finnian[/name], and yes, I still kind of like the correctly spelled historic/saint’s name, [name]Aidan[/name]. (Not [name]Aiden[/name]).
[name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Samson[/name] are probably the two that are both the most masculine and the least popular. [name]Finnian[/name]/[name]Finnegan[/name]/[name]Phineas[/name] are cool and offer the nickname [name]Finn[/name], but I don’t know where their popularity is in Kansas, [name]Finn[/name] is becoming more of a thing generally in the US though from what I can tell.
Yeah, [name]Owen[/name] is one I’d consider trendy. I don’t see it being the next [name]Aiden[/name], though. And if you love it, I’d still say use it. Popularity isn’t a huge deal. Some other names though
