I know an adult [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] nn [name_u]Paddy[/name_u], so it sounds fine to me. She is from [name_m]New[/name_m] Zealand (I am from the US), I haven’t heard it other than her but I wonder if it’s more common there

If said a loud l would assume it was [name_f]Patty[/name_f] and I just misheard, if I saw it written down I would assume it was a nickname for [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]. I dont think it works as a full name, especially on a girl. I think a lot of people would make period pad jokes about it.

For a girl? Definite no. [name_u]Paddy[/name_u] is a nn for [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]. [name_f]Patty[/name_f] is for [name_f]Patricia[/name_f]. If I read it somewhere I’d assume it would refer to a male [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]. For what it’s worth I never would have realized the pad association (but I live in [name_m]Dublin[/name_m] and know multiple Paddys - all male).

In [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] and the UK [name_u]Paddy[/name_u] is a male name, a nickname for [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]. I’ve never heard of it as a standalone name.

Thank you all for commenting and/or voting! I reallt appreciate it. I have decided to put it off my list since i cant shake the period pads association out of my mind.
