Is Quinn still a boys name?

Is [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] still usable for a boy in the US?

If you don’t think it is, can you suggest something else please. Our first son is [name_m]Liam[/name_m]. We want something short and simple. Last name is Irish and ends in a -y, so -y ending names are out. We’ve thrown around [name_u]Finn[/name_u] (husband doesn’t like), [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] but nothing is sticking out.

I still like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for a boy, though it does lean Girl for me!
What about
[name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_u]Shea[/name_u]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_m]Davis[/name_m]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_m]Cale[/name_m]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_u]Wade[/name_u]

I really like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for a boy, and know several. I actually have never met a female [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], although it is rising on the lists.

I do think of [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] as one of those names that is perfectly usable for either gender, with a fairly even balance. I know of two little boy [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]'s under 5, but have yet to meet a girl [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] though I know they’re around. Sort of like [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] or [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] can be used for both. But my preference is boy. I have an uncle called [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], he’s the only male [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] I have ever met versus several female [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]'s, yet he is a successful, very masculine, well liked man’s man into boats and billiards and his name suits him so well. His name radiates masculinity just because that’s him.

Anyway, really like your other choices of [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. Here’s some other ideas:

[name_m]Liam[/name_m] & [name_m]Sean[/name_m]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m] & [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] ([name_m]Jake[/name_m])

A few years ago if you had asked me that I would have said clearly boy because in Europe it’s used mainly for boys I think. But then I joined Nameberry, an American website and got a bit “brainwashed” and now [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is clearly feminine to me BUT I could still see it on a boy so I wouldn’t give it up if I were you cause it’s a lovely name.

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is still very usable for a boy [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I see [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] as quite masculine overall but I’m not from the US so I do appreciate that might be a cultural difference. And being British, with Irish family, the surname history stands out the most. Either way, I like it on boys and girls. Generally though, I would consider it quite boyish on a girl whereas it wouldn’t feel too feminine on a boy because of the popularity of names like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] for boys.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] to mention, whenever I hear [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], it always reminds me of the male actor [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. So there’s another masculine connection in my mind!

I like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] way better for a boy than a girl (I’m in the US). I think it’s very handsome. I think everyone knows it originated as a boy name. (Well, last name then boy name.) So I don’t see why anyone would be shocked to meet a boy with a boy name. [name_m]Will[/name_m] he meet girls with his name? Probably. But as you can see from my son’s name in my signature, I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
Good luck.

It’s all boy to me. I only know of one [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], and he’s a cutie.

Statistically in the US, it’s rising much faster and higher for girls than for boys, but I’ve only met boy Quinns. I feel like it works really well for both genders.

I also really love [name_m]Quentin[/name_m] nn Quen/[name_u]Quin[/name_u], which makes it more definitively masculine [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I’ve tried to sell my husband on [name_m]Quinton[/name_m] “quin” but he’s not buying it. We both prefer just [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. But I do think it would avoid confusion.

I think [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is very well balanced and I wouldn’t be surprised at all at meeting a little boy named [name_u]Quinn[/name_u].

It’s a fabulous boy’s name. I hate it on girls.

Yes [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is absolutely a boys name, Esp in uk. Never met or heard of a girl called [name_u]Quinn[/name_u].

The only [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] I know is my male cousin so, it’s a boys name to me.

Theoretically [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] can be used for girls, but I’ve never met any. The closest name to that on a girl that I’ve heard of is [name_m]Quill[/name_m].

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is still fair game in my eyes.

Def boy! And I know two boys [name_m]William[/name_m] (similar to [name_m]Liam[/name_m]) and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]! [name_f]Do[/name_f] it
