Is Quinn timeless?

I know [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is trendy for a girl but what about a boy? Are there statistics for how many Quinns are boys and how many are girls? The ss website only goes back to 1960. Is this when it started being used in the US?

heard this name before having a student with it this fall, so to me it is new and thus not necessarily timeless.

I like the girl, but not the name.

For some reason, [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] reminds me of spine and sounds medical and unpleasant.

I love [name_u]Quince[/name_u] and [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] though.

I know the same amount of girl and boy [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]'s, but I think it will always work on a boy-as you said it is kind of trendy on a girl.

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] itself isn’t timeless, no. [name_u]Quincy[/name_u], [name_m]Quinton[/name_m], and [name_m]Quintus[/name_m] have been used for centuries though, and surely more than a few went by [name_u]Quin[/name_u] from time to time.

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] I believe started out as a surname. It’s not timeless, but I like it. It’s the one of the few unisex names I like on both girls and boys equally (maybe the only one). [name_m]Quinton[/name_m] and [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] were also both surnames. According to Wikipedia [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] Addams was name after his great-grandfather [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Quincy[/name_u]. Interesting the first uses in the SSA were in the 60s. During that time there was a song “The Mighty [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]”. You can probably hear it on
Youtube.

I don’t think it’s “timeless” per se, but it classy. The nameberry graph has the first uses in 1957. It has never entered the top 200 though, so it is known but not common.

I do not know where [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] stands but I prefer it for a boy. Personally for me [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] sounds distinguished and handsome on a boy/man but just so so on a girl/woman. Not that I dislike it for a woman, it just does not stand out.

No, [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is not a timeless name. I have a nephew [name_m]Quinton[/name_m], who uses this as a nn. It’s a nice name!
