I love names and I love [name]River[/name], but in the real world, is it just too weird? Maybe it’s just where I live, but children are generally either called [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Lauren[/name], [name]Riley[/name] or [name]Jayden[/name].
I don’t see [name]River[/name] as too weird but I do prefer it as a middle name and the [name]Doctor[/name] Who [name]River[/name] think totally makes me see it as more a girls name but it is still a lovely name [name]IMO[/name].
I don’t think [name]River[/name] is weird. It is a name strongly associated with the late [name]River[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name], and it’s a beautiful nature name. A bit unusual maybe, but not a name with spelling or pronunciation issues. People around where I live are named everything ([name]Plum[/name], [name]Levi[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Harry[/name], [name]Calypso[/name]).
I don’t think that it’s too weird to be usable at all! Having said that, I do think that a name that’s reasonably wearable in one place might be too much in another place. I can’t see [name]River[/name] as being out there enough to be unusable anywhere, though.
I love [name]River[/name]! I don’t think it’s too weird at all. There’s the late [name]River[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name], as mentioned, and I personally know a [name]River[/name] whose a very successful adult.
I think it’s weird, but I’m not a fan of a lot of word names…
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]River[/name]! It used to be my absolute favourite boys name. Definitely not too weird.
I adore the name [name]River[/name] and it’s climbing further up my boy’s list because I think it’s just gorgeous.
I don’t think it’s too weird. I know a young boy called [name]River[/name] and all of his friends think his name is cool!
I would say no, as most people have heard of it being used before (mostly because of [name]River[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name] I would guess). Especially with the rise in the popularity of nature names in the last few years, if I heard it I wouldn’t find it unsual on either gender.
It might be a borderline “uncommon” choice where you live, but it’s definitely not too “weird”. =]
[name]River[/name] is a very popular name in the world today! My niece just had a little boy and named him [name]River[/name]! The couple is a very sophisticated, stylish and popular couple in their circle of friends (and with very good jobs). They wouldn’t have used the name if they thought it was weird.

It’s my favourite name for a boy, and it will be what I call my first born son. Everyone I have told this too, hates it and says he will be made fun of. But I don’t mind I think it is a beautiful name. My name is [name]Summer[/name], and I have had a lot of bad reviews on it all my life, but I love it.
Um no, I plan on using [name]River[/name] someday lol. I like that it’s different.
Absolutely love the name [name_u]River[/name_u] and always have, I prefer it as a boys name, but also think it would sound beautiful as a girls name! I do agree that [name_u]River[/name_u] is uncommon but it’s okay to have a unique name to stand out from the rest.
When I was an infant teacher I had a [name_u]River[/name_u] in my class a few years ago. I always really liked his name. And the more you say it when attached to a sweet little face it just becomes him and not a name…if you love it it will work!
I don’t think it’s too weird. My husband has been lobbying for this name since our first daughter was born and now we’re deciding on a name for our second. As was mentioned, it was used on [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] Who for a girl and it was also used on Firefly for a girl too. These are two favorite shows of ours. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t know if you’re using it for a boy or girl, but I think it’s a good unique name. Good luck!
