Is Robin too feminine for a boy?

[name_m]Will[/name_m] a boy named [name_u]Robin[/name_u] always be made fun of? What do you think of the name?

It’s too feminine for me.

I can think of enough examples of male [name_m]Robins[/name_m] that it shouldn’t be a problem ([name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood - which is a pretty cool namesake). If he doesn’t like his full name, there are also enough built-in nicknames ([name_m]Rob[/name_m], [name_u]Robbie[/name_u]) that he can go by that aren’t unisex.

It does lean a bit feminine for me only because I have known many Robyns. But I think [name_u]Robin[/name_u] still works for a boy, especially as someone else said with the nickname [name_m]Rob[/name_m] built in.

I think it works for a boy.

No. It’s currently not in the top 1000 for either sex, so it’s the ideal time to use it for a boy. There’s [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood, and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] as masculine associations.

One of the main characters in my book is a boy [name_u]Robin[/name_u] It works for him I think.

I agree with SouthernMaple. It might sound feminine to parents and grandparents (because we had more girl [name_m]Robins[/name_m]/Robyns than boy [name_m]Robins[/name_m] in our generation), but it’s not really a popular baby name right now. So I don’t think his future classmates will think it’s girly at all.

I actually like it as a boy name a lot, once I tried to think of it on a modern little boy.

I prefer [name_m]Robert[/name_m]/[name_m]Rob[/name_m] for a boy, but [name_u]Robin[/name_u] could work as a mn.

[name_u]Robin[/name_u] Thicke, [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Williams[/name_m], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Leach, [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Finck, Sir [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_u]Day[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]…

I think it works pretty well for a boy.

I like it on both boys and girls and think it seems truly unisex. Definitely not too feminine for a boy

[name_f]My[/name_f] cousin recently gave birth to a baby boy, and she named him “[name_f]Robyn[/name_f]”.
I thought the spelling was cute

I also agree with this.

[name_u]Robin[/name_u] is one of those unisex names that I like on either a boy or girl.

I never liked it for girls any way, so a little [name_u]Robin[/name_u] nn [name_u]Robbie[/name_u] would be awesome to me.

I agree, I feel it’s truly unisex. I know male and female [name_u]Robin[/name_u]'s.
I think the option of [name_m]Rob[/name_m] (and [name_m]Ben[/name_m]??) make it very usable for a boy.

[name_u]Robin[/name_u] definitely isn’t too feminine for a boy. I know a male named [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and he pulls it off nicely.

I think I know more male [name_m]Robins[/name_m] than female [name_m]Robins[/name_m]. I don’t find it too feminine I think it works well for a boy.

No [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Gibb[/name_m], I went to college with a male [name_u]Robin[/name_u]. [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is a unisex name. I mean heck in this day and age with everyone using male names on girls, there is NOTHING wrong with using [name_u]Robin[/name_u] for a boy. [name_m]How[/name_m] about rocker [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] [name_m]Hitchcock[/name_m]?? He is all man.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it on a boy!
([name_u]Truth[/name_u] is, for me it’s the only name that I can genuinely see on either gender.)
