Is Rosalie still too associated with Twilight?

My baby is due late [name]August[/name], and DH and I aren’t finding out the sex. We have our boy name down ([name]Maddox[/name]), but are struggling with girls names.
I love the name [name]Rosalie[/name], but can’t really stand the books/movies (no offense to those that do!). [name]Do[/name] you think that [name]Rosalie[/name] still has too big of association with Twilight, even though the series is over?

I personally don’t think of Twilight when I hear [name]Rosalie[/name]. I think vintage chic! To me, [name]Rosalie[/name] is one of the prettiest names when you say it out loud. It’s like music!

I definitely think of Twilight, but only because I have no other associations with the name. If I met a real-life [name]Rosalie[/name] that would probably change.

I think its stupid people are giving twilight so much power. [name]Jacob[/name] was the top boy name since 1999, and has been in the top 10 for at least the last 20 years. (that’s as far back as I searched.) Twilight has nothing to do with that. [name]Rosalie[/name] has been in the top 1000 since 2009 which correlates with the movie release, but honestly, i think your safe. It was in the top 1000 starting in 1913 with its most popular year being 1936 in the 66th spot. And jumped off the list in 1989. So the name has history, it isn’t like it was a Twilight invented name.

Most people will not remember [name]Rosalie[/name] from the series in 10 years even if they did read and watch the books. It just won’t be important. I mean seriously, I am a HUGE [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] fan and I am constantly reading here and there that such and such name was a [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] name and I’m standing their scratching my head saying, really? lol

Not at all! I love [name]Rosalie[/name]!

Yay! When I told my [name]SIL[/name] thats all she could think of and it worried me a bit. But it is true that in decades no one will remember
Now I just have to get DH to agree :stuck_out_tongue:

[name]Bella[/name] yes! [name]Rosalie[/name] no! I think [name]Rosalie[/name] is an absolutely gorgeous name… All [name]Rose[/name] variants are off the table for us unfortunately as DH had an unpleasant experience with a [name]Rosie[/name] and has point blank refused to even consider them but I would use [name]Rosalie[/name] in a heart beat! Great choice! I also like [name]Rosalind[/name] because it gives nn [name]Indi[/name] as well as [name]Rose[/name] which I love… If you are concerned with the twilight association you might consider [name]Rosalind[/name].,.

In 6 years when they’re at school, Twilight will be old news. Go for it!

No, not at all. [name]Rosalie[/name] is a great name. [name]Don[/name]'t worry about it!

No, although I do think of the character from ‘Grimm’, who is sweet, clever and just a lovely person. So all good associations!

Not at all! [name]Rosalie[/name] is a lovely name with a great history. She’s not a main character in Twilight, the series has ended and is fading out anyway! I know a 21 year old [name]Rosalie[/name] - the name suits her brilliantly, I’ve never thought of Twilight and no ones ever mentioned it in relation to her name!
Good luck

Edited

I don’t automatically think of the vampire from Twilight. There is a [name]Rosalee[/name] on Grimm too.
I love the name [name]Rosalie[/name]! [name]Rose[/name] names are lovely. Right now I have a huge crush on [name]Rose[/name] names.
Use it!

I’ve never seen Twilight so I don’t have that association. In fact, the only time I think of [name]Rosalie[/name] being a “Twilight name” is when someone specifically points it out. I grew up with a [name]Rosalie[/name] so the first thing I think of is her, school, and church (we attended the same school and church).

Honestly, I think that for most of the general public who have read the Twilight books, (which is a large group of people,) yes, [name]Rosalie[/name] is VERY Twilight. I’m sorry if that’s not what you want to hear. I realize that [name]Rosalie[/name] is a beautiful name with a legit history that goes beyond Twilight-mania. However, it IS strongly associated with Twilight [name]IMO[/name].

I definitely do not think of Twilight! You should use it!

I had never heard of the name before Twilight, so it’s completely associated with the series to me. If you love the name, I wouldn’t worry about the series. Although, you might get people asking if you named her [name]Rosalie[/name] because of Twilight from time to time.

As a teenage girl who has read (and enjoyed) the books and watched (and hated) the movies, I do think of Twilight when I hear the name [name]Rosalie[/name]. However the assocation is not overwealming, and I wouldn’t that the parents named her after the character if I meet a little girl named [name]Rosalie[/name] (unless I knew the parents to be fans of Twilight). By the time [name]Rosalie[/name] starts school Twilight will be history, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

If it wasn’t for people on this board pointing it out, I wouldn’t know that [name]Rosalie[/name] was ever tied to Twilight. So no, it’s an old, cheery, well-established name. It’s not too tied to Twilight.

Twilight is the first thing I thought of but I think that’s because that’s the only association I have with the name. I know a little boy named [name]Jacob[/name] (not because of Twilight though!) and they got comments about it at first but people got over it quickly.
