I think it’s great. There are all sorts of names these days; it’s not incredibly out there :). But you’ve got two different spellings - one in your title, and the other in your post. Are you going for [name]Sheppard[/name] or [name]Shepperd[/name]? (There’s also the original [name]Shepherd[/name], plus [name]Shephard[/name], Sheperd, [name]Shepard[/name], etc.)
Generally, it’s the same sound, so here are some middle name suggestions:

I think it’s cute! A lot of people will tell you it’s too doggy, but I think it’s adorable! I couldn’t see it as a mn, though, it seems a bit off to me in that position.
I adore [name]Shepherd[/name], prefer this spelling, but spelling really does not matter. I would pair it will something more traditional.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]GREY[/name]- but last name is White now… thanks a lot hubby, LOL
My boys list is much shorter than my girls- probably bc I more enjoy putting boys names on girls, hehe!
I like [name]Shepherd[/name] though the nn [name]Shep[/name] makes me think your good old farm collie (think working versions of [name]Lassie[/name], not the glamourized show version). I would call him by his full name or find a nn based on an attribute rather than shorten [name]Shepherd[/name] to [name]Shep[/name].
My brother’s name is [name]Shepherd[/name] only it’s spelled [name]Shephard[/name] to be more original. people always tell him they love his name!
