Is Terry a low class name/chavy/not Classy name??

Hello,
I hope I don’t offend anyone but i would like to know if the name [name_u]Terry[/name_u] is a low class name?

Thank You for your help.

I don’t know if it’s necessarily “low class” but I wouldn’t name a baby [name_u]Terry[/name_u]. It seems like a baby boomer name in my opinion, and not in the cool vintage kind of way.

Definitely not but it’s certainly dated.

I don’t know what chavy means.

I think [name_u]Terry[/name_u] was popular back in the 60’s and 70’s maybe.

I’m not wild about it, but I wouldn’t term it low class.

I wouldn’t say it’s chavy/trashy but I have to admit I don’t like it. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_u]Cary[/name_u]? [name_u]Cary[/name_u] might not be ready for a comeback quite yet either but it has a similar sound and I think of [name_u]Cary[/name_u] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_u]Cary[/name_u] Elwes and for that reason I quite like it

I’m not a fan personally. Could you use it as a nickname for [name_m]Terrence[/name_m]?

[name_u]Terry[/name_u] is a nice name, definitely not low class! I quite like it for a boy, it makes me think of [name_u]Terry[/name_u] Gilliam and [name_u]Terry[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m].

[name_u]Terry[/name_u] is definetely mid-century and a nn for [name_m]Terrence[/name_m], which is quite nice and not at all low-class. I would stick with [name_m]Terrence[/name_m] and not let anyone use “[name_u]Terry[/name_u]”. There were many male and female [name_u]Terry[/name_u]'s in the 60’s and 70’s, and it’s become a girls name. I also know male [name_u]Cary[/name_u] and [name_u]Kerry[/name_u]'s but these are much more feminine now.

I know 2 men named [name_u]Terry[/name_u]. I dont know if they like their names, but i feel its more of a girl name. What about a fn option, like [name_m]Terrance[/name_m] or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], with nn [name_u]Terry[/name_u]?

Like others said, I don’t find it classy but I also don’t think it’s a “low-class name”. It’s just a “dad name” to me.

Its definitely dated, brings to mind a dad in his mid forties drinking a beer at a cookout

I wouldn’t say that [name_u]Terry[/name_u] is a low-class name, but I certainly wouldn’t use it myself for a baby. It just feels really dated to me, and I don’t think it would age well, since it sounds very nickname-y
