I came across it today, on a Lady’s blog… she spells it Addallee… She claims it means “the [name]Lord[/name] is my Strength” I have NEVER heard of this name, and can’t find it anywhere. Have you ever heard of it? [name]Just[/name] wondering??..
it’s pretty, but yeah, it does sound made up to me :(. [name]How[/name] about [name]Adele[/name], [name]Adela[/name], [name]Adelia[/name], or [name]Adeline[/name]? Those are all great!
The name [name]Adalia[/name] is the original form. I would say that [name]Adalee[/name]/Addallee are inventions (made up versions). For some reason, people love sticking “lee”, “ley” and “lynn” at the end of names.
Oh, my first thought was someone taking the N out of [name]Natalie[/name]!
I think you spelling is a big improvement, but it would blend into the sea of made-up, vowel-heavy names I’m afraid.
I know someone who just had a daughter a couple months ago and named her [name]Adalee[/name].
No, I personally would never use it. I do like [name]Adeline[/name], but not sure I would use it either. I weas just seriously wondering if it was a “real” name…[name]Adalia[/name], is pretty… never hear of that one either, but at least it is “real”
[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Adalia[/name] is is prn… [name]Ad[/name] ah lee ah? Or [name]Ah[/name] del ya?
I like [name]Adelie[/name] spelt that way. I was under the impression it was a French variation of [name]Adele[/name] or [name]Adelaide[/name] or any member of that name family. That may be wrong though!
I still prefer [name]Adeline[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Adele[/name], [name]Adela[/name] etc but I think [name]Adelie[/name] is spellingcute. I HATE the spelling Addallee though, urgh!
[name]Hope[/name] that helps
Thanks for helping to Clarify =0) I really was just wondering…to me, It is not a bad sounding name, but again to me it just sounds made up… I did run [name]Adeline[/name] across DH months ago… as I think, [name]Adeline[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is so sweet, of course he doesn’t like it… which makes since as he likes [name]Caroline[/name], or [name]Madeline[/name], to him [name]Adeline[/name] is always “missing” something LOL!!!
I haven’t heard of it, but it sounds like a “smoosh” name combination of [name]Ada[/name] and [name]Lee[/name]. I’m sure there have been people with this name in the past, it sounds very cute and southern. It could also be a double barrle name as [name]Ada[/name]-[name]Lee[/name], but when it is a double barrle I would expect an emphasis on that they are two different names.
My next theory on [name]Adalee[/name] is that it is an adaptation of the old biblical name [name]Athalie[/name], which is a pretty and unique choice but the biblical story might discourage parents from choosing it… on the other hand, [name]Delilah[/name] did make a comeback!
*Adelie is a French name with the same roots as Adele that is slightly similar but pronounced differently from Adalee (Adelie is prn like Adele-ey)
