Is the name Kinley really all that bad?

I have found it to be very polarizing. The definition is fair warrior. Our little girl will have to be a warrior! (she has a complex heart defect) We really are down to [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Kinley[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I just don’t think the name is that off the wall, but am I crazy?

While I like the meaning behind [name]Kinley[/name], I’m not really a fan, sorry! I do love [name]Evangeline[/name]; I think it’s strong and feminie at the same time.

It’s not that it’s really off-the-wall… to me, it’s just that it’s so trendy and masculine. I automatically think of [name]McKinley[/name] when I think of [name]Kinley[/name], and [name]McKinley[/name] is all boy to me. All the -inley names are everywhere right now–[name]Brinley[/name], [name]Kinley[/name], [name]Kinsley[/name], [name]Finley[/name], [name]Tenley[/name], Tensley, [name]Kenley[/name], etc. Most of them have either masculine origins or are made-up, and that style just doesn’t appeal to me. [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is so much more timeless and gorgeous, imo. I would love to meet a little [name]Evangeline[/name].

Sorry about your daughter having to have heart surgery when she enters the world. Mommy is definitely a warrior too to have to go through that. It puts my troubles of deciding a name into perspective. As far as I know our LO is healthy. I don’t know how I would handle it if that ended up not being the situation.

Anyways, not to add another name to the mix, but I love how [name]Audrey[/name] means “noble strength”. [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is beautiful. With that said, I love [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I like the meaning behind [name]Kinley[/name], but the name is reminiscent of the 90’s as I know a [name]Kinley[/name] and a [name]Kinsley[/name] who are about 12 years old. Good luck with your decision and the surgery.

  • [name]Brinley[/name], [name]Kinley[/name], [name]Kinsley[/name], [name]Finley[/name], [name]Tenley[/name], Tensley, — sorry i don’t really like any of these including [name]Kinley[/name], (especially Tensley…)
and [name]Evangeline[/name] is another one i dont understand the appeal of. I love [name]Eva[/name] or [name]Eve[/name] or [name]Angelina[/name] but not smushed together…likewise don’t like [name]Evelyn[/name]. obviously we have different taste so i wont make suggestions…

Anyways wish you the best; i was a an au pair for a 4 year old who’d had a planned open heart surgery at birth and she was an abosolute angel. (now a healthy teenager)

Not off the wall at all, just trendy and very masculine. I don’t like it at all.

So sorry your daughter needs surgery! I wish you all the best!
In terms of the name, I really don’t care for [name]Kinley[/name]. It’s probably from the surname [name]McKinley[/name], which does mean “son of the fair hero,” but to most people, it’s just another trendy -ley name, nothing special. Tons of names have great meanings, but that doesn’t necessarily make them great names. [name]Evangeline[/name]'s meaning, “bearer of good news,” is equally fitting, and [name]Evangeline[/name] is a far more stylish, beautiful, interesting, and less dated name than [name]Kinley[/name], in my opinion. I think [name]Evangeline[/name] is a fantastic name. The following names also have meanings you may like:
[name]Audrey[/name]- “[name]Noble[/name] Strength”
[name]Victoria[/name]- “[name]Victory[/name]” (obviously)
[name]Valeria[/name]/[name]Valerie[/name]- “Strength”
[name]Hope[/name], [name]Nadia[/name], [name]Esperanza[/name]- “[name]Hope[/name]”
[name]Roxana[/name]- “[name]Dawn[/name]” or “[name]Little[/name] [name]Star[/name]”
[name]Zoe[/name], [name]Viviana[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name]- “Life”
[name]Asha[/name]- “Life” or “[name]Hope[/name]”

If you like modern, unisex names then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It is just a matter of taste. [name]Kinley[/name] is not my style, but that doesn’t mean it’s not the right name for your little warrior. The name means something special to YOU.

Best wishes to you and your family.

I actually like the name [name]Kinley[/name], I just wouldn’t use it because it’s so trendy right now. [name]Kinley[/name], [name]Kinsley[/name], Kensey, [name]Kenzie[/name], [name]Kaylee[/name] and subsequent spellings, not to mention all of the C names that are spelled with a K to make them “unique.” I think it’s a beautiful name, just overdone. I think she would get lost in a sea of K names. I have so many friends who have had K baby girls lately, and to be honest I can’t remember any of their names.

That said, if the meaning is really important to you and if it speaks to you, you should go for it.

My brother and his wife just named their daughter this-spelled Kinleigh. I’m personally not a fan of it, but it’s not awful. It does have teasing potential in the future though. (I want to mount mc[name]Kinley[/name])

I dont care for [name]Kinley[/name]. She would just get lost in a sea of [name]Kylie[/name], [name]Kayla[/name]. [name]Karly[/name], [name]Kaylee[/name] etc. I love pp suggestion of [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. Much more classic and elegant. [name]Lila[/name] is gorgeous too. Blessings and prayers to your sweet baby.

I love the name [name]Kinley[/name]…however, I named my dog that 3 years ago after we went to Alaska. Being completely clueless about naming trends, we named her that b/c of visiting Mt. [name]McKinley[/name], which is gorgeous. Now I see it’s very popular these days. So is my other dog’s name, [name]Jackson[/name], who we named after the singer, [name]Alan[/name] [name]Jackson[/name] and didn’t know it would become that popular either. See, so obviously I have no idea what the trends are! Either way, I clearly like the name since I used it myself!

Personally, I think [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is a much lovelier option than [name]Kinley[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. [name]Evangeline[/name] is classy and timeless whereas [name]Kinley[/name] is trendy and feels masculine to me. In fifty years, everyone will know that [name]Kinley[/name] was born between 2005-2015. [name]Evangeline[/name] will be much harder to pin.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name], not so big on [name]Kinley[/name]. I also like the suggestion of [name]Audrey[/name]. Best of luck with her surgery.

I like the name [name]Kinley[/name]. I have never personally met or heard of a baby being named [name]Kinley[/name] before, so I guess I don’t get the trendiness aspect of it. [name]Evangeline[/name] is a very strong, classic name, harsh to my ears though. I have to say I am the minority here and like [name]Kinley[/name] better. [name]Just[/name] go with whatever you feel is her name when she gets here. I wish you and your baby girl best of luck and hope all goes well.

Wow these posts have me stressed out. The name [name]Kinley[/name] is really growing on me not only for its meaning but also just the name itself. [name]Reading[/name] all your posts though, I feel like I am doing her a disservice. I never would want to do that to my child. I just think it is actually pretty and unique. Gosh this is harder than anyone tells ya

You should go with what you love. Nameberries as a whole tend to not like the name, but that doesn’t mean your daughter won’t like it or that you shouldn’t. If [name]Kinley[/name] is your hands-down favorite name and nothing else comes close to it, use it. We’re (well I am, I can’t speak for everyone) just trying to tell you that it IS a very trendy name and that you will hear other girls with the same and very similar names and it will sound dated in a few years. That doesn’t mean you can’t like it or shouldn’t use it; it’s just good to know the facts about the name before you do.

Use it if you love it. If I listened to everyone’s opinions on my children’s names-their names would not be ones I gave but those a stanger decided was fitting.

This one. If [name]Kinley[/name] is what’s in your heart, then let your heart speak true.

I used to be secretly mad about [name]Kinley[/name]. I still quite like it… I suppose, in a guilty pleasure sort of way. I know the SWEETEST little girl named [name]Kinley[/name], which is probably why. It’s totally not my style, but I think it’s spunky and sweet.

Actually, [name]Kinley[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] was one of my favourites, which I think you might like as a combo.
