I’m usually into more masculin, traditional-ish names : ([name_m]Gunnar[/name_m], [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], [name_u]Dean[/name_u]) but I love the name [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u], and it’s my hubbys favorite. His last name will be Stowell, and I have a few middle name ideas as well:
I’m just wondering…is this name a little too weird? If a [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] was in your kids class, would you think, “What the hell were those parents thinking?” Haha. It seems like the more I hear it, the more I love it…but when I told one of my girlfriends, her response was a concerned “hmmm…welll…ok” Any input is welcome! Thanx
A British celeb chose [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] for her son, famous for her outdoor pursuits/expeditions it made perfect sense for her with its meaning ‘west wind’…my friend also has a Zeth. It is a bit ‘out there’ but not unheard of. I find it an energetic sort of name, with friendly nn’s Zep, Zeph, & [name_f]Zee[/name_f]. If you love it, use it.
As it’s a little more on the daring side I would pair it with a strong handsome traditional middle to give it solid grounding…
I like [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]! I first heard it (and associate it with) “The [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] Song” by RHCP, which is a great song. I think it’s definitely usable; a bold, but very cool choice for a little boy. The nn Zef is just too cute! Personally, I think a name like [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] should be paired with a more classic and familiar middle name, and [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] is my favourite from your list.
It is not weird at all to me. Sounds pretty typical of the current trendy names right now. I wonder if the spelling Zeffyr or Zeffer would make it feel more masculine and hardy… I like the sound of [name_u]Dean[/name_u] with it.
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] was on my list for DS1. It wouldn’t be considered too out there in my area, there is a wide range of naming styles here. I think it has a cool outdoorsy vibe like [name_m]Archer[/name_m], [name_u]River[/name_u], etc. The nickname Zeph is fantastic as well.
[name_m]Zephyrin[/name_m] is also an option. I have a [name_m]French[/name_m] male ancestor w/middle name [name_m]Zephyrin[/name_m]. I prefer it to [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u].
I love [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]. With names like [name_m]Maximus[/name_m], [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m], and [name_m]Ulises[/name_m] in the Top 1000, [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] isn’t too far out there, and it’s a very handsome choice.
I agree that [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] looks and sounds best when paired with a more classic middle name. Out of your picks, I love [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]. I really like the suggestions of [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] [name_m]Joel[/name_m], [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] [name_m]Paul[/name_m], and [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] [name_m]Scott[/name_m].
[name_f]IMO[/name_f], if you have to ask if a name is too much, then yes it’s probably too much for you. There’s always the middle spot or it could be a nn for [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
Personally, I love [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]. It’s a beautiful nature name and it’s not at all “out there” to me.
I absolutely love this name! I have heard the meaning to also be, calm breeze or something like that. Which I love! Although I don’t think I will ever use it on a child I would be pretty happy to be a little boy named [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]! The nickname Zeph is cute too!
it is more daring, and I think some parents may find it a bit weird but it shares some letters/sounds of popular names that make it not too crazy. For instance the -er ending is a pretty popular ending and there are a few Z- names that are pretty popular ([name_m]Zander[/name_m], [name_m]Zane[/name_m]…) I don’t think its too out there and it is definitely a name that can grow on people once they hear it (not something unpronounceable or spelled strangely).
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] is very handsome!
