We like the name [name]Theodore[/name], and think our favorite nickname is probably [name]Theo[/name], but would a kid named [name]Theo[/name] get made fun of? Is it dorky? Is the name masculine enough? Is it a good adult name?
Some other names we’re considering are [name]Declan[/name], [name]Peter[/name], [name]Isaac[/name], and [name]Benjamin[/name].
No, a [name]Theo[/name] would not be made fun of. What is there to make fun of about [name]Theodore[/name]/[name]Theo[/name]? [name]Theodore[/name] is regal and handsome. It’s a name that fits both a boy and a man very well. I also like [name]Peter[/name], [name]Isaac[/name], and [name]Benjamin[/name]. I’m not a fan of [name]Declan[/name] personally, but [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Declan[/name] sounds nice.
I don’t think so. I think my first fictional character crush was on a character named [name]Theo[/name] (from the [name]Newbury[/name] Award winning novel The Westing Game, so it has always seemed cool to me. There are other nicknames for [name]Theodore[/name] that are dorkier, definitely. [name]Theo[/name] is strong, but gentle, adult, and young and to me it sounds perfect.
I honestly think [name]Theodore[/name] is kind of dorky (all I picture is [name]Alvin[/name] and the Chipmunks haha), but I think the nn [name]Theo[/name] is pretty cute. It’s not very “masculine” to me, but he definitely wouldn’t be made fun of.
Your kid is going to get picked on-part of growing up unfortunately. His name is going to be the least likely thing to be picked on about though, more likely to be a physical feature or some embarrassing incident in grade school than his name. [name]Theo[/name] is a great name. I have never cared for [name]Theodore[/name] at all.
I think it’s unlikely that he’ll be picked on for his name. I think [name]Teddy[/name] would be more likely to draw some criticism from grade/middle schoolers than [name]Theo[/name]. I think [name]Theo[/name] will be a somewhat normal thing 5 years from now.
I don’t think [name]Theo[/name] would get made fun of. There are a lot stranger names out there!! I love [name]Theo[/name], it’s adorable. [name]Declan[/name], [name]Peter[/name], [name]Isaac[/name], and [name]Benjamin[/name] are all great names! I love [name]Benjamin[/name] nn [name]Ben[/name].
Seriously? [name]Theodore[/name] is one of those classic names, like [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Christopher[/name], [name]Dominic[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]. I could never imagine a [name]Theodore[/name] being made fun of for his name, or it being considered dorky. And it definitely ages well.
I can’t imagine how one would tease [name]Theo[/name] - it’s so classic. I can understand thinking how [name]Theodore[/name] might sound a bit dorky, but I think that image is rapidly being shed. To me, [name]Theo[/name] has always been nothing but cool!
I agree with the general sentiment: nope! The name sounds good. We had thought of the possibly outrageous “[name]Thelonious[/name]” with [name]Theo[/name] for short… (didn’t make our short list)
[name]Theo[/name]/[name]Theodore[/name] isn’t dorky, and I don’t see it causing any teasing. Classic, old fashioned names are starting to become more popular. I like all of your other boys names as well, with the exception of [name]Declan[/name] (just nms).
I actually think [name]Theo[/name] is cooler sounding than [name]Theodore[/name], which sounds much more classic/vintage/old fashioned and geeky-chic and I think that’s why [name]Theo[/name] sits well within the top 100 in the UK, while [name]Theodore[/name] is in the 200’s.
I agree with the others. [name]Theo[/name] is very classic and cool [name]IMO[/name]. Unfortunately most children will be teased at one point or another in their lives. I don’t think being named [name]Theo[/name] will add to that in any way.
