Is Theo too close to Eli?

I have a week or two left of this pregnancy with #6 and we STILL [name]DO[/name] NOT HAVE A NAME. Grr. However, as the due date approaches I have started thinking more and more about an old favorite that my hubby nixed years ago: [name]Theo[/name]. I love it. Always have, always will. I’m thinking it might be the one to fight for since we aren’t going to come up with a compromise name.

But . . . I have a thing for vowels and a son named [name]Eli[/name]. Is [name]Eli[/name] too close to [name]Theo[/name]??

(This matters because my hubby is still annoyed that I nixed [name]Emmett[/name] because I think it is too similar to my daughters’ names: [name]Emeline[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name].)

Thanks for your opinions!

If it matters, our children’s names are: [name]Miriam[/name], Cowen, [name]Emeline[/name], [name]Eli[/name], and [name]Harriet[/name].

My top names for this baby (all of them rejected by my hubs): [name]Theo[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Kimball[/name].
My hubs’ top names for this baby (all rejected by me): [name]Wyatt[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Everett[/name].

Not too close.

Not to close at all. I’d say [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] or [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Arlo[/name] were too close because of the ‘o’ sound but [name]Eli[/name] and [name]Theo[/name] seem different enough to me.

I agree, not close enough to matter.

No way, [name]Theo[/name] is not very close to [name]Eli[/name] because in [name]Theo[/name] sounds O and [name]Eli[/name] sounds E, so there is very big difference in between these two. But if you like it then it could be not bad maybe.

I’m in agreement with everyone else - [name]Theo[/name] is not very close to [name]Eli[/name]. The names your husband likes seem much closer to [name]Harriet[/name] than [name]Theo[/name] is to [name]Eli[/name]. And personally I love [name]Theo[/name] (on my list for #2 coming in a few months). But if hubby doesn’t like the name [name]Theo[/name], sounds like you guys might have to brainstorm additional names. There must be a name out in Nameberry-land that you two can both like (if not love). I’m sure of it

I don’t think they are close at all.

Nope, I’m not brainstorming additional names. I’ve given him about 50 names over the course of this pregnancy and he’s said no to all of them. He’s given me three names and I’ve said no to all three (because of how close they are to [name]Harriet[/name]). There comes a point when looking is a waste of time and energy. At the hospital my hubby will take it all more seriously and agree to something. It might as well be one of my favorites.

No way! And for what it’s worth, I think [name]Theo[/name] is phenomenal with your other children’s names. Fantastic!

[name]Theo[/name] and [name]Eli[/name] sound great together!

I don’t see any similarites to [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Eli[/name]…so no it’s not too close.

[name]Both[/name] [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Oscar[/name] would be wonderful additions to your family. The spunky [name]Theo[/name] would be fine with [name]Eli[/name]. Your husbands choices are great names but personally I think they’re too close to [name]Harriet[/name]'s name.

Honestly, I’m not really sure why you think they could be too close? I get they have vowels but they’re not the same vowels and the names have very different sounds to me. If you hadn’t said anything, the thought would have never crossed my mind. Pus, [name]Theo[/name] is very handsome!
