So I feel compelled to name our fourth child with an s name because my other 3 kids including 2 girls have s names. I have another thread with not so s names we are considering but a new one occurred to me.
Is Stassia (nn Stassi) a legitimate name? I would like it be pronounced like the stah-see-ah (nn stah-see). I realize it probably is a shortened version of a [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] but Id really like to keep it an s name.
Is another spelling more intuitive for the desired pronounciation? [name_f]Stasya[/name_f]? [name_f]Stacia[/name_f]?
I think I have seen [name_f]Stacia[/name_f] before but not any of the other spellings. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] it all looks made up or you were trying to find a way to spice up the name [name_u]Stacy[/name_u]. I would keep looking. Sorry!
I know a [name_f]Stasya[/name_f] whose full name [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. If I met a Stassia, I’d assume it was a nickname for [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] or Stanislava. So while it doesn’t look made-up, it does seem incomplete.
Anyway, I love the sound and the meaning. One beautiful name.
I grew up with a [name_f]Stacia[/name_f] (she pronounced it more like stay-shuh, rather than stay-see-uh). I’m not sure if it was a nn or not.
With all of the nickname names out there I don’t think I’d say this isn’t a real name.
If [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_f]Brielle[/name_f] can be real names that I think [name_f]Stacia[/name_f] is fine.
This name is so pretty! I think it sounds like a real name- I know someone with this name! It isn’t short for anything and it’s spelled [name_f]Stacia[/name_f]. I think that the double s spelling looks a bit made up, but the name [name_f]Stacia[/name_f] is a beautiful name and I don’t think it sounds incomplete or weird at all! The [name_f]Stacia[/name_f] I know pronounces it ‘stay-sha’ and ‘stahz-ya’.
I’d go with Stassia or [name_f]Stasya[/name_f], or maybe [name_f]Stasia[/name_f], because I think people might say [name_f]Stacia[/name_f] as STAY-shuh. Also then it won’t look like you’re trying to do “fancy [name_u]Stacy[/name_u].” I wouldn’t assume it was made up. Sort of reminds me of [name_f]Saskia[/name_f].
I think it’s really pretty! I would use Stassia (made up or not) over [name_f]Stacia[/name_f], as the latter looks like [name_u]Stacy[/name_u] and would be mispronounced left and right. Staysa is pretty too.
I love the name [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] and Stassia is quite pretty. However, nn Stassi, to me resembles far too closely the Stasi, who were the [name_f]East[/name_f] [name_m]German[/name_m] secret police. Perhaps better to go with some of the offered alternatives?
I’ve met a [name_f]Stacia[/name_f], pronounced (stay-sha) but never a Stassia. If you chose the name [name_f]Stacia[/name_f], you may have to correct pronunciations but it doesn’t look made up. Whereas Stassia looks more made up, but looks more like the way you are trying to pronounce it. I think its pretty though!
I had a classmate named [name_f]Stacia[/name_f] ‘stay-sha’ when I was little. I’m not sure if it was her full name or short for [name_f]Eustacia[/name_f] or something. Stassia looks like it’s pronounced ‘staw-see-ah’ so I’d say it the way you intend. Pretty name. It doesn’t seem made up.
[name_f]Stasia[/name_f] is the closest variation of [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] I can find, but I think Stassia is MUCH prettier! People are saying they’d assume it was a nickname for [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], but I honestly didn’t even think of that. Anyway, I don’t know if it’s a real name, but it sounds totally legit to me. I think just because you make up a name, doesn’t mean it sounds fake. It’s beautiful, and unique - you should go for it!
I love Stassia! It sounds pretty, not made up at all… though I (and most people, I guess) did it was a nickname for [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. If you love it, don’t let the whole nickname thing bothers you. Stassia is a lovely name.
Stassia is pretty. I would be inclined to pick a spelling that is more common. But if none of the common spellings accomplish the pronunciation that you want, go with Stassia. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it is assumed to be a nickname for [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], who cares? I know people named [name_f]Kate[/name_f] not [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Meg[/name_f] not [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] / [name_f]Meghan[/name_f]. It is a nice name. I also like the name Sia, like the Australian pop singer.
Stassia kind of looks like half the name fell off somewhere or something. I’ve seen [name_f]Stacia[/name_f] before, but even then, I’ve felt that it was a nickname for [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. I don’t like it, sorry.
