Is this Estelle nickname too far-fetched?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would be possible to get the nickname [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]/[name_f]Tillie[/name_f] from [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]? I adore the name [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], and dislike all the names typically used as full names for [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] ([name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f], [name_f]Chantilly[/name_f])

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] -> telle -> tille -> [name_f]Tillie[/name_f]/[name_f]Tilly[/name_f]

Could this work? Or is this way too far-fetched?

I can sort of see how you got there, but no, I don’t think it’s a very intuitive nickname for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. If you like [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], why don’t you just use it by itself? Or if you’re in the market for other nicknames for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], what about Stelly or [name_f]Stella[/name_f]?

I think [name_m]Telly[/name_m] would work as a nn [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], but not [name_f]Tilly[/name_f].

I think it works. You could also consider something like [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f].

If you adore [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] why give it a nickname? [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is definitely short enough that it doesn’t need a nickname. The [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] I know just goes by [name_f]Estelle[/name_f].

I also think [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] works just fine on it’s own

[name_f]Tilly[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is quite far-fetched, so I would use the two names separately.

I see how you get there but it isn’t intuitive. My DD has a friend named [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Esti[/name_f] which I think is so cute!

I think it works, but I like [name_m]Telly[/name_m] for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] more. ([name_f]Este[/name_f] too)

Some people are [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] and get called some nickname like [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. I say nicknames are rule-free!

I think [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is a perfectly fine nn for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. However, I think [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is such a beautiful name on its own! I think [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Stella[/name_f] would be a little more fitting, but [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] works out.

I think [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] works perfectly fine!

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], it is a guilty pleasure name that I adore. I think nicknames are open game so anything is possible. I prefer nicknames that are close relation to the actual name, but do whatever your heart desires.

[name_f]Tilly[/name_f] isn’t the first nickname that comes to mind for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. I would assume [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. If I were to ever use [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], I’d probably use [name_f]Elle[/name_f] as a nickname. [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] works though.

I love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]! I personally wouldn’t use a nickname, but [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is a really cute option.

[name_f]Tilly[/name_f] works just fine for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]

You’re looking for a name that works with your nickname, [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], right? You’re the one that wants to change her name? I think it would work fine to change your full name to [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and keep going by [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] like you already do, but what’s the point? Besides being saved minor headaches at doctors offices and things, nothing will really change. Actually, I think the headache of changing it !might be worse. If everyone you already know will keep calling you [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], is it worth it? If you really think it is then [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is gorgeous and could work. But if I were you I’d think pretty hard about it.

You caught me out! I am looking for a longer name that is easier to live with than [name_f]Chantille[/name_f], my current name which nobody knows how to pronounce. I want to be able to use a longer and more professional name than [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] when I need to. I’d still be [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] with family and friends, but I need something that I can fall back on when I don’t want the peppy and juvenile sound that comes with [name_f]Tilly[/name_f].

It’s a stretch, but I think it works. Half of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]'s nicknames make even less sense to me after all. Go for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] if you love it.

I think that [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] could pass with a push as a nickname for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. But there are other nicknames for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Stella[/name_f], and you could also use [name_f]Essie[/name_f], [name_f]Stelle[/name_f], [name_f]Estie[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Tess[/name_f].

It totally works! Plus everyone is going to call her whatever mom and dad do!

I think you could push for the nickname [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and it wouldn’t be TOO much of a stretch, but I don’t find it particularly intuitive.

If you introduce her as [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] I highly doubt anyone would suspect ‘[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]’ as her possible full name, so I think you’d need to explicitly state it, and vice versa if you introduced her as [name_f]Estelle[/name_f].

But if you really like [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], then you could consider using that alone as a first name: a couple I know recently named their daughter [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], and I’ve heard nothing but positive feedback.

Similarly, [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] sounds great stand-alone, and has lots of other possible nicknames too.
