I have the family name [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and I love it but it doesn’t seem to go with much and it seems too aggressive. I would use it for a middle name, but I don’t have any first names to go with it. I love any and all types of names, so help would be greatly appreciated!
I actually find it very light and lovely! It fits in so well with some of the light, vowel heavy names that I hear often these days, like [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], etc which I think makes it sound very current without being overused.
I also love [name_f]Eliora[/name_f] as an alternative.
For a middle name combo, some ideas…
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
I love it! If you want to hear it used check out the show [name_m]Derry[/name_m] Girls set in [name_u]Ireland[/name_u]. One of the characters has that name.
I don’t think it’s frumpy or aggressive - more mystical and interesting, slightly rugged but also bright and cool!

Not at all. It’s a nice name.
[name_f]Pretty[/name_f]
I don’t find it agressive or frumpy at all.
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
I don’t love it-- reminds me of a hairdresser in some small town, but fine as a nickname
[name_u]Love[/name_u] your ideas. And my daughter is [name_f]Eliora[/name_f]
[name_f]Beautiful[/name_f]! I adore [name_f]Eliora[/name_f]!
[name_f]My[/name_f] main concern would be that it’s way too close to oral, but I think it would be fine as a middle name, and I like the sound.
I don’t find it aggressive or frumpy, it’s a lovely name. What did put me off [name_f]Orla[/name_f] though (this spelling) is that it means vomit in [name_u]Irish[/name_u]. I think people would struggle with the [name_f]Orlaith[/name_f] spelling outside of [name_u]Ireland[/name_u], so as a compromise I’d use [name_f]Orlagh[/name_f].
[name_f]Orla[/name_f] (or [name_f]Orlaith[/name_f] in its original form) is a very pretty name that doesn’t seem aggressive at all! Rather the opposite, it feels soft and whimsical. Frumpy, definitely not I have mainly met young Orla/Orlagh/Orlaiths.
[name_f]Orla[/name_f] is beautiful
In my opinion I think [name_f]Orla[/name_f] is gorgeous and has a modern fashionable flair. [name_u]Irish[/name_u] names are having a moment currently with both [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] & [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] being firm favourites so in my opinion [name_f]Orla[/name_f] feels stylistically similar along with sharing similar sounds to [name_f]Isla[/name_f] another popular choice so I actually think she’s the complete opposite of frumpy. In relation to aggressive I don’t think she’s ‘aggressive’ either she’s has a melodic sound with the lilting ‘l’ and ‘a’ together combined with the ‘o’ start she feels like a more intriguing [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] along with a very lovely meaning golden princess. I personally love [name_f]Orla[/name_f].
You’ve had some lovely suggestions so please count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps
i like it!! i actually met a 6th grade girl orla at a choir camp and she wore it well!!
It’s one of the top ten baby names in [name_u]Scotland[/name_u] and very high up in [name_u]England[/name_u] as well. We considered this one! Very popular and not at all frumpy or outdated. You could always make it your daughter’s middle name, but to me it’s a perfectly normal first name.
I don’t think it’s at all aggressive, actually I would think of it as kind of fragile and wistful
I don’t think it’s frumpy or aggressive.
