[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is already hard to say with the heavy R sounds, and adding [name_u]Rae[/name_u] won’t help matters. [name_f]Laelia[/name_f] is pretty, and I pronounced it right, but just be aware that many people will pronounce it lay-lah. If you don’t mind that, then go for it.
I think [name_f]Laelia[/name_f] is cute, and it was pretty easy for me to pronounce. You might also try [name_f]Laylia[/name_f] if you want a more obvious pronunciation
I actually know someone with a daughter named [name_f]Laelia[/name_f]. I adore it, but she has said that no one can ever spell or pronounce it, so I’d second the [name_f]Laylia[/name_f] spelling. Personally, I prefer [name_f]Laelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Laylia[/name_f] (rhythmic and lilting) to [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (harsh, difficult to pronounce).
Have you considered [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]? It seems like a half-way point between [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_f]Laelia[/name_f].
I like the previous suggestion of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]. It even has the “[name_u]Rae[/name_u]” sound in there.
[name_f]Laelia[/name_f] has a nice sound, but I think it would get confused with [name_f]Layla[/name_f] a lot. Also, it immediately reminded me of labia, so…there’s that.
I find [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] cumbersome, and many children have trouble pronouncing it correctly. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] is particularly difficult, though [name_f]Elise[/name_f] works, should you choose it.
I love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], but I’d only use it as a mn, because it’s so difficult for young kids to pronounce. [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is a great suggestion. Or, I’ve always thought Reve would make a great girl’s name ([name_m]French[/name_m] for ‘dream’). Reve [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (w/appropriate accentuation) could honor [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. It’s pronounced Rev.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] a quick note: [name_f]Laelia[/name_f] reminds me of echolalia and coprolalia, some not-very-pleasant symptoms of a disorder called Tourette’s (which I myself have). I have been teased for it all my life. Many may not see the connection, but some probably will.
I like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] much more than [name_f]Laelia[/name_f]. I’m a speech-pathologist, so I can confirm the double r’s would be hard on a little girl, but we all learn to say them at some point! I’d only shy away from that one if you have a lot of r’s in your last name. With [name_f]Laelia[/name_f], I get caught up on its similarity to [name_f]Layla[/name_f]…which I’ve heard on many young girls.
I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]! [name_u]Ever[/name_u] since I saw the movie [name_u]Love[/name_u] Actually, I’ve loved that name! It’s not common but it’s familiar sounding enough that I don’t think people would have trouble with it (Reminds me of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f])
I second [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] too.
I really like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f], but not [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]… too many r… I never heard [name_f]Laelia[/name_f] before (at first I thought I read [name_f]Laetitia[/name_f] or [name_f]Layla[/name_f]), but I do pronounce it correctly.
I greatly prefer [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], and like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] as combo.
I dislike the look of [name_f]Laelia[/name_f]…just not keen on that e in there for some reason. Have you considered [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]? It has the lay-lee-ah in it, as well as a beginning reminiscent of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (in appearance)…and it’s a gorgeous name.
I’m also rallying behind [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] - beautiful!
Sorry, but I voted back to the drawing board. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is rather difficult for any kid - even I struggle with it, and I’m only Australian. [name_f]Laelia[/name_f], to me, is bound to be butchered her entire life. Too bad the cousin named her daughter [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] - it was stunning!
Another vote for [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]! I think it’s the best of both worlds, and so beautiful.
While [name_f]Laelia[/name_f] is very pretty, I do think it would be a very tough name to have with spelling and pronunciation in mind. For whatever reason, [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] has never won me over - I think the combination of some people having trouble pronouncing it and the strong association with Sleeping Beauty keep me from loving it. (I do think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is a sweet nickname from it, if that interests you.)
I voted for [name_f]Laelia[/name_f]. So pretty! I know a woman who named her daughter this and she said that she receives nothing but compliments. I don’t think it’s “too out there”. What I like about the name is that it’s familiar due to its similarity to [name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], etc. while still sounding different. The pronunciation is pretty intuitive to me. Lae = lay and lia = lee-uh, like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is super hard for me to say even now. I can’t imagine how hard it would be for a child to say!
