[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I’ve always loved the name [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] and view it’s connotations from a good perspective (“of the night” and “woman who stands up for herself in the [name_m]Adam[/name_m]&[name_f]Eve[/name_f] story”). But looking through feedbacks about it on various sites, I’ve found that many think of [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] as a “monster, who kills babies”. I don’t know what to do now, as I don’t want people to make biased impressions about my child. Am I overthinking?
Also, what do you think about LiIith [name_u]Avery[/name_u] as a combo? Any other MN suggestions?
I think it’s fine. [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] is a nice combo, I don’t usually like [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] but it’s growing on me and that’s a good combo for it!
As someone with a Jewish mum I find [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] & the connotations awkward so me personally I wouldn’t use the name I would use a [name_f]Lily[/name_f] variant I’m considering [name_f]Lilia[/name_f].
However I think someone who doesn’t have that connection/a religious family I think [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] would be fine. Especially considering the
feminist twist on the name as well I think it can work. [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] is lovely.
Lilith is lovely, and I don’t mind the association! [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] has a nice flow, but [name_u]Avery[/name_u] has never really done it for me - it’s just not my style.
I’m not sure exactly of what sorts of names you like, but I think these all pair brilliantly with [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]:

Purely based on flow, [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] is gorgeous! I’m not religious, so I can’t speak to the connotation. It makes me think of [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] from Cheers, who I love. And my name is [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and a lot of my friends call me [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] I think the sound is really nice.
As a [name_u]Christian[/name_u], I would never feel comfortable using the name [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], but if it doesn’t bother you then I don’t think it’s wrong to use! The sound of it is quite pretty!
I like this name. Most people where I live wouldn’t know about the mythological story of [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] (I had never heard of it before joining Nameberry). So I find it usable. However, if the story is better known in your area/community, I would recommend caution.
I love [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]. I firmly believe that the story of [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] is a powerful feminist one and that people had to turn her into a villain to preserve the patriarchy. I’ve done research on this, looking at both perspectives. [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] is gorgeous! [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] also isn’t super unheard of as a name.
I wouldn’t say it’s unusable, but I personally don’t love the connotation and would look for an alternative. I would say whether or not it’s advisable depends on 1) if the connotation bothers you and any coparent and 2) if you think the connotation would pose a problem for your kiddo growing up based on where you live or who you’re around.
I adore [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], and I agree with @SparkleNinja18 about the story and vilification of her being mired in misogyny. The fact that so many shows and films in media take the connotations at face value and create characters that are just ‘evil daemon lady [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]’ is a very specific pet peeve of mine.
In my opinion, [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] is a beautiful name. It’s usage isn’t unheard of, so it’s definitely usable. [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] is lovely.
