I saw the name [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] suggested on the blog and I love it! Is it too weird? I think I would middle name it because I don’t like the nn [name_m]Woody[/name_m] because of the tie to the [name_m]Toy[/name_m] [name_u]Story[/name_u] movie. If you first named the name, what would you call him?
I don’t really think [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] has very many nicknames other than [name_m]Woody[/name_m]…however, Row definitely sounds like it could work, if it was emphasized that that was his nickname. Most people would naturally assume the nn is [name_m]Woody[/name_m], though.
If you could make Row work, then [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] would be usable [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. Otherwise, I’d keep it as a middle.
I love [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m]-- it’s a very handsome, classy name. I’ve always been fond of the nickname “Woods” for [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m], it is rugged and handsome, but not dated or stuck to an image like [name_m]Woody[/name_m]. I also like the suggestion of Row.
It’s definitely very presidential because I immediately think of [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m]. I agree that it’s better as a middl, but my reasoning is more [name_m]Woody[/name_m] and morning wood as slang terms.
Going on the suggestion of Row- What do you think about [name_u]Rue[/name_u] for a nn?
Personally, [name_m]Woody[/name_m] isn’t a bad thing for me because I honestly loved toy story as a child and still do to this day, but I really don’t think it would be fun to be like every time you hear it " Like [name_m]Woody[/name_m] from [name_m]Toy[/name_m] [name_u]Story[/name_u]?"
[name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] calls for [name_m]Woody[/name_m] and I love it!! [name_m]Woody[/name_m] or Row are both great nicknames! But [name_m]Woody[/name_m] is just so cute!
They would definitely be called [name_m]Woody[/name_m]. As my husband says, you really can’t control what other people will use as a nickname.
[name_u]Rue[/name_u] might be a bit of a stretch…spelling it Roo might be better, since you’d just be adding an extra “o” (woodROw), rather than adding two letters that aren’t found in the name (“ue”). Also, [name_u]Rue[/name_u] is the name of a pretty significant female character in the Hunger Games trilogy, so pop culture might (sadly) suggest that [name_u]Rue[/name_u] is more of a feminine nickname.
