Is this okay?

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] to me is blonde and curly-haired, very girly, while its nickname, [name_u]June[/name_u], is dark haired and a lot more no-nonsense (think [name_u]June[/name_u] Iparis from the book [name_u]Legend[/name_u]).

I’m just wondering if it’s weird to have a name and nickname like that on your list.

I’m not sure if you are asking if it’s okay to have a “full name” and it’s nn on a list simultaneously (YES of course!) or if it’s weird that to you [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and nn [name_u]June[/name_u] have two different personalities.

  1. of course it’s okay for a nn to have a different personality than the full name. In fact, I really love finding long names where I like/love multiple nn’s. It makes the name a more realistic future choice for me as it allows for my future kid to have a nn that suits them - even if their fn doesn’t so much. (FYI: I went by [name_u]Alex[/name_u] for a long time - I was very tomboyish and hated everything girly. I really loved switching to [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] when I got to college and discovered a more girly persona for myself. I thought it was cool to have the option of both.
  2. [name_u]June[/name_u] is a real fn, it is bound to have its own personality away from the similarly sounding [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]. I agree though [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Juni[/name_f] have the same feel to me, while [name_u]June[/name_u] is very different. (As is [name_f]Juno[/name_f].)

I feel the same too - [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] nn [name_f]Bibi[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn (insert all nicknames), [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]/[name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] and [name_f]Mona[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_u]Romy[/name_u], [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Dita[/name_f].

I guess when you actually know somebody who uses both their nn and full names, they become more synchronized.

I actually love this concept, this way no matter what your child looks like or grows up to be like it kind of works out

I feel the same about [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]…the first is grown up and spunky and the latter is cute and ultra feminine to me!
