Definitely an overkill. If they were less subtle, I doubt it would be ([name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] for example - [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]).
I’m fine with it. I actually thinks it’s cute, but I think others would see it as too much. I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], and really like [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
I think it’s cute It reminds me of the floral sibsets often found in the Edwardian/Victorian era I’ve known multiple twins named [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and [name_f]Michaela[/name_f], so I think this would be fine.
Haha thank you! Finally someone who sees the light! Nouns/Adjectives have been used as names throughout history. And so what!? That’s great! I’d rather be named honoring a beautiful plant than named for a noise like “[name_f]Meghan[/name_f]”
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband has relatives who did this exact set. And then they had a boy. I can’t remember what his name was, but there aren’t many boy names that are purple themed…
I’m not sure I would describe it as overkill, I like the theme, but [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] and [name_f]Lavendar[/name_f] have matching initials amd [name_f]Violet[/name_f] doesn’t. [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] also sound a little too close for me, though alone they are all beautiful names.
Sorry- you both must have misunderstood. I didn’t mean that noun names aren’t suitable for humans (of course they are. I adore [name_f]Violet[/name_f], actually). I meant that in my opinion, having a flower and color theme like that, especially together, is too cutesy and cartoony for a sibset (where it would be kind of cute for pets).
[name_f]IMO[/name_f] it’s overkill. I agree with a pp’s comment that it seems redundant. Maybe even stifling, as though the children are preordained to be in this clique. But people name their kids thematically quite a bit, and the kids seem to be fine. It’s just not for me. I think a theme would be better used more subtly or with more traditional names (i.e. [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]). Also, I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] but [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] and [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] are not my style (plus I don’t much like the color purple).
I wouldn’t advise using three purple flowers for first names but they would be a quirky way to connect three girls if they were used in the middle spot.
