I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and my husband loves [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. He hates [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and I don’t feel right about [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]-we both love [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
I love the sound of [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. I would call her by both names sometimes and my husband would call her [name_f]El[/name_f].
I don’t mind the repeated el sounds at all.
I am, however, a tiny bit bothered that she won’t have a ‘full name’.
This is ridiculous because I always advise people to use the name they love, and I also love [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] without a ‘full name’.
Bub’s sex is a surprise though, so we might not even need this option! Our boy’s name is [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m].
What do you think of [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]?
Thank you very much, just looking for opinions on the name though, no suggestions. We have been through all the [name_f]El[/name_f]- names which led us to just [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] works beautifully.
And as someone who goes by a nickname (full name is [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], but known as [name_f]Jenni[/name_f]) I always hated the difference. It would be nice to be able to use the same name, regardless of the situation.
I don’t like the name [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] - it is too youthful and squishy for me - but in theory, a nickname-name like [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], [name_u]Freddy[/name_u] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] etc is fine!
I went to school with a girl named [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]; she was very sweet and very pretty. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is a name that I genuinely enjoy listening to.
Typically, I’m against names that don’t have a full name too, especially ones that sound like it could be a nickname, but since you’re also able to get [name_f]El[/name_f]/[name_f]Elle[/name_f] out of the name, which still gives the option of sounding professional if need be, I think it could work.
I know you said no more suggestions, but I also went to school with an [name_f]Elisa[/name_f], which is basically the same exact name except with an -sa at the end. It’s a pretty rare name and is similar to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], so that’s why I thought to suggest it.
But honestly, if you’re only a tiny bit bothered, then I’d say go for [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] can stand on its own but I personally would prefer a more formal option for when she is an adult. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] sounds very youthful to me. What about [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Elle[/name_f]?
I agree that [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] alone is fine! Unlike some nicknames, I think it works on a variety of ages and would be wearable for a professional young woman as well as a little girl.
