so growing up my grandma used to read me the [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on The [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] books by [name_f]Laura[/name_f] Ingalls [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and I absolutely adored them. it’s a core memory of growing up for me.
[name_f][/name_f]
I was rewatching the show today (I just found out there’s going to be a reboot so I’m rewatching it in preparation) and I was thinking about using [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] as a way to honor my grandma. is this too stretchy?
I’m of the stance that if it feels like an honour name to you[name_f][/name_f] then it’s an honour name [name_f][/name_f] however, if you’re worried your grandma may not see it that way, and it’s important to you that she[name_f][/name_f] does, you can always ask her if you are able to
I don’t think it’s too stretchy because you’re not just honoring your grandmother, you’re also honoring memories you love and something you bonded over. It might take a little explaining, but it’s a great way to honor your grandmother.
I don’t think it’s too stretchy at all! I think it’s a great way to honor your grandma and still use a name you love. And honor names can be for memories and experiences as well
I think if it’s meaningful to you, that’s the most important thing [name_f][/name_f]- and you can share that memory with a future child [name_f][/name_f] works for me
that’s the problem my grandma would still probably be “but [name_f]Prairie[/name_f]” even after I explained it. she’s kind of traditional when it comes to names lol
Haha yeah not surprising! maybe try talking to her about name trends and how many people use word/nature names nowadays, like [name_m]River[/name_m], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Meadow[/name_f], [name_m]Robin[/name_m], etc [name_f][/name_f]? [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] is more unusual but fits right in with the sound and vibe. or, consider it as a mn if she still thinks it’s strange lol.
I already have but mostly doesn’t like nature names… I’m not really concerned about her absolutely hating the name, I’m just concerned about he questioning why I just didn’t go with [name_f]Laura[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or something like that
[name_f]Prairie[/name_f] is such a sweet, colorful and lively name! I love it!
[name_f][/name_f]
I adore honor names that are indirect, meaningful, creative, and sentimental. In my opinion, [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] is a beautiful way to pay tribute to your grandmother. [name_f][/name_f]Ultimately, any name that reminds you of her is a wonderful choice. What truly matters is the love behind the choice and the memories the name carries.
Definitely not too stretchy at all! I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as an honour name for my grandmother because she always wore pearls. [name_m]Honour[/name_m] names definitely do not need to be taken from the name itself. I think this is a really meaningful way to honour.
[name_f]Prairie[/name_f] sounds like a super fun way to honor her! [name_f][/name_f] Some of my favorite honor names honor things my favorite people love/loved. [name_f][/name_f] She may wonder why you didn’t just use [name_f]Laura[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or any other name from the books, but I agree with @GreenEyes375[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- for me if it feels like an honor to me, it counts. [name_f][/name_f] If you love it as a honor name for her, maybe slowly start feeding it to her now, so when you actually are able to use it she’ll be used to it and love it haha.

Is she the grandma who answered our name questions a while back? [name_f][/name_f] She seemed pretty lovely, hopefully with time she’ll warm to it!
she is!! my only problem is that she hasn’t really forgiven my cousin for giving her daughter a unique name so I’m cautious when it comes to what I’ll name my future kids
