Is Torin too odd?

I’m still on my quest for a strong sounding Irish boy name. I’ve been obsessed with A Song of Ice and [name_m]Fire[/name_m] by [name_m]George[/name_m] RR [name_m]Martin[/name_m] and love the ring of Torrhen [name_m]Stark[/name_m]'s name. The spelling isn’t for me but [name_m]Torin[/name_m] seems like a much less offensive spelling. With that being said is it too strange and unfamiliar sounding or unique but not obscure?

We like the middle name [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] as well so perhaps the double T might sound too rhyme-y.

Thoughts?

Still wrestling over [name_u]Kieran[/name_u], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], and [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. Boys name are hard!

I’ve been in love with [name_m]Torin[/name_m] since I was 13 and he’s the longest standing name on my shortlist for boys and girls! I was always shocked that [name_m]Torin[/name_m] wasn’t more popular because he seems to fit so well into current trends. Irish (like [name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_u]Aidan[/name_u]), ends in N (like [name_u]Mason[/name_u] and [name_u]Logan[/name_u]), and seems like he would fit perfectly into a classroom with [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u].

I agree, boys names are challenging! [name_m]Torin[/name_m] is one of my absolute favorites so he would get my vote, but I also have [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] on my list. Great minds think alike, I guess!

I think it’s totally useable! It’s very similar to [name_m]Soren[/name_m], [name_u]Corbin[/name_u], [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] and [name_u]Corin[/name_u], some of which [name_m]Ive[/name_m] heard in person.

On I think it’s lovely, it’s nice you don’t hear it much.

I really like it. It is unique and uncommon, but known, so a great choice. As you mentioned, unique but not obscure. [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] works fine and if you are wondering about the two Ts, I think alliteration makes for a memorable name and in day to day life, we seldom say our first and middle names together.

It’s definitely usable, and he won’t have any other in his class either!
I think [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] works great - I love the alliteration.

[name_m]Man[/name_m], I like [name_m]Torin[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_u]Kieran[/name_u], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], AND [name_m]Jack[/name_m]! [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is my all time favorite name and I have a son named [name_m]Callum[/name_m]… soooo… I’m no help. [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is great.

Someone I know just used Tauren and, while it was definitely odd at first, it slowly became easier to see it as an actual name. [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is actually really handsome! For what its worth, and not that this helps your dilemma any, but I love all of the names you are considering. You can’t go wrong with any of them

Good luck!

I don’t think [name_m]Torin[/name_m] is odd or strange. I have it on my long list. [name_m]Torin[/name_m], [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] (spelling I personally prefer), and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] would make a great set, if you ever had more sons. I like the bold, strong sound of [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].

I like [name_m]Torin[/name_m]. I think its cute. It flows well with the current trends, but not overused. Sweet, but not too feminine. And it doesn’t sound too “out there.”

I don’t think [name_m]Torin[/name_m] is too odd at all! A very accessible irish name. Familiar enough and “fits in” without being trendy or over popular. Seems like a sweet spot name to me.

No, I actually think it’s pretty cool. I also like [name_m]Torquil[/name_m].
