Is Xiomara too unique?

My husband and I are expecting a baby girl in [name_u]March[/name_u]. We love the name [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] but when we tell people that name, everyone is always like wait what is it? I just wanted to hear what other people thought of the name [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f]. We also love the names [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f].

I.do.think.[name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] is a.bit much, like she’ll have to say here name a few times before people can say/remember it. Othere [name_f]Mara[/name_f] names that you may like is: [name_f]Samara[/name_f], [name_f]Amara[/name_f], [name_f]Amaya[/name_f], [name_f]Aya[/name_f].

I love it! I knew a Xiumara and I prefer that spelling.

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it?

[name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] is a bit extreme for a little girl. I love your other names-- [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is gorgeous, [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f] are beautiful also.

I knew a [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] (pr. zee-oh-mah-rah) She was about 19/20 years old and she went by Xio. I had never heard of the name before, but she wore it well. I really like it!

I went elementary school with a girl name [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f]. Now she is an adult (graduated from college) and that name has lasted her for her entire life (even in highschool- yes we ended up in the same high school as well).
From experience that name is more than usable and people will get accostomed to it.
I think it is similar to/better than [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] as [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] is at least pronounced similar to the spelling.

For those who asked, the girl I knew pronounced it See-oh-mah-rah or [name_f]Zee[/name_f]-oh-mah-rah. (not sure which is the right one as I haven’t seen her since highschool which has been a few years).

Like annelore the girl I knew was nicknamed Xio ([name_f]Zee[/name_f]-oh or See-oh)

[name_m]Just[/name_m] remember she won’t always be a little girl. [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] will eventually grow up.

I think [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] is a lovely name, but I have a hard time seeing it on an adult, a mother, or grandmother. I feel the name is very youthful and cannot withstand the test of time.

[name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] is very unique, but if you have more children, won’t it be hard to find names as unique for siblings? [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] is my favorite of the other three.

Reminds me of the contestant on [name_u]America[/name_u]'s Next Top Model (where I first heard this name). I like it!

I really like [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f]! A woman at my bank has this name and she is so sweet.

[name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] seems a little too different to me.

It’s smashing but I think it will only work if you live in a part of the US with a large Hispanic population, or in Latin [name_u]America[/name_u] itself. Otherwise it’ll be a lifetime of headaches and misspelled Starbucks coffee cups.

In keeping with the Spanish, the first sound is an S.

I love it and I don’t think it is too extreme at all. It is unusual, and she’ll have to spell it, sure, but I just don’t see that as a big deal. I have a name that I have to spell for people and it really isn’t burdensome. I do use a fake name at Starbucks.

[name_f]Xiomara[/name_f], [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], and [name_f]Aria[/name_f] would be a great set of sisters. I don’t think [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] really goes, that seems like an outlier. The nickname Xio is really cute, too. I also really like [name_f]Xiamara[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Xia[/name_f].

[name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] is lovely and Xio and [name_f]Xia[/name_f] are great nicknames.

I love it when I see Spanish choices that are less conventional to the Anglophone ear or eye, I say go for it.

[name_f]Ximena[/name_f] (Spanish version [name_u]Simone[/name_u] or [name_f]Chimene[/name_f], depending on source) is another possibility if you love [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f], as is Azucena and Llesenia/[name_f]Yesenia[/name_f].

Never heard this name before. I like it, especially if you can use the nickname [name_f]Xia[/name_f].

I like it, though I prefer [name_f]Xiamara[/name_f].

If you love it, go for it, people will get used to it. It’s fairly simple to spell once you know how.

I went to school with a girl named [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f], and I always thought it was beautiful. She and her family were from Ecuador, and the way they said it just sounded beautiful.

I love it.

Having a unique name myself, I love [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] (I’m assuming it’s pronounced zee-oh-[name_f]MAR[/name_f]-ah…)!!! It’s a great unique name as unlike mine, many nicknames can be made from it, (which means that if your child doesn’t want to go by their full name they can still go by a nice short name), such as [name_f]Mara[/name_f] (: unique names grow on people, so I wouldn’t worry about what others think - it’s a pretty name which cab both stand out or fit in, depending on how you choose to use it! (:
Best of luck!

Although I prefer [name_f]Aria[/name_f] out of all the names you’ve chosen ([name_f]Natalia[/name_f] is also a favorite of mine) I don’t think [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] is too much so long as you’re pronouncing it relatively phonetically (zee-o-mar-a or zee-uh-mar-a), and has the adorable nickname possiblity of ‘[name_f]Zee[/name_f]’. It might be a little confusing to spell for some people, though.
