I think [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is a beautiful name and so fresh compared to [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]/Isabelle. For nicknames, I think [name_f]Addie[/name_f] would work as a nickname for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] but personally wouldnât use it for [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]. There are so many Addies running around
I like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] as a nickname- that is really cool and I wouldnât have thought of it.
I want to like [name_m]Isador[/name_m] on a boy but I hear âIs a door.â Weird I dont feel that way with [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. Maybe because I actually know ladies named [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. Because of my association with [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] its never been usable for me although if I didnât know an [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] I would probably find the name really pretty.
But [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is lovely and very refreshing. Its kinda quirky in a good way! [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] reminds me of someone a little narcissistic but [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is more down to earth and cool. If that makes sense!! Its weird giving names personalities but thatâs what the names evoke for me.
So Iâve legally changed my name to [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] a few years ago. Hereâs how that has worked out so far:
I pronounce it ihz-uh-door-uh, but most people who first meet me pronounce it ee-sa-door-ah. I guess I just live in an area with a large Spanish speaking population so thatâs their assumption.
A LOT of people ask me if Iâm named after [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_m]Duncan[/name_m]. No one has made the [name_f]Dora[/name_f] the [name_u]Explorer[/name_u] connection. I donât know anyone with young kids, so thatâs probably why. Iâm a little sad about that actually. I do like to travel the world so I am an explorer.
I also get a lot of âWhere are you from?â âIs that a common name in your country?â âWhat nationality are you?â kind of comments. Not mean or anything, just curious. All reactions I get are positive to neutral.
I obviously love it, itâs my daughterâs name. I have answered for me but I have to say she HATES her name, especially if people shorten it to [name_f]Dora[/name_f] which is my favourite nickname. We are never asked if I named her after [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] (I did) and always either after [name_f]Dora[/name_f] the [name_u]Explorer[/name_u] or Wizadora (bad nineties tv show for little kids). It gets brought up a lot and is one reason she dislikes it. The other reason is that she feels it is really girly which doesnât reflect her at all.
This is one of my husband and Iâs top choices after his grandma, [name_f]Dora[/name_f]. Heâs Puerto Rican so weâd use the ee-sah-door-ah pronunciation. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite nn is [name_u]Isa[/name_u], which is what we plan to use, but I think [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], [name_f]Dora[/name_f], and Iz/Is work well too. I dislike [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Addy[/name_f]/Addie, just because theyâre more of a stretch imo, but theyâre fine overall. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not really my style. All the name combos and sibling names sound fine with it as well, though I think [name_f]Vela[/name_f] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] has a better flow.
I really love this name. Itâs fresher and less popular than [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]/Isabelle/Isabella. These are still nice but used a LOT. I pronounce it eye-sa-door-uh / eye-za-door-uh. Another variation which I love is [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] and pronounce it Ees-uh-door-uh, with the Ees pronounced like lease without the L. I also like [name_u]Sora[/name_u], [name_u]Isa[/name_u], [name_u]Ira[/name_u], [name_f]Adora[/name_f], [name_u]Adria[/name_u], [name_f]Sara[/name_f], [name_u]Ara[/name_u], [name_u]Ari[/name_u] and [name_f]Ora[/name_f] for nicknames, though they are stretches.
