I’m pretty sure I like this version of the name most right now (considered [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] and [name_f]Eseld[/name_f] in the past).
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you naturally pronounce [name_f]Iseult[/name_f]? I’m pronouncing it something like EE-soolt / ee-zalt (like the vowel sound in soot; differs in UK accents, but is generally between the two).
I’m having a hard time pairing her though… for me she the right qualities to be a first or a middle, but far I’m thinking;
[name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] or [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] … maybe a bit overkill-Arthurian-legend?
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] … too vowel heavy?
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] … too similar to each other I think
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Iseult[/name_f]
Suggestions very welcome, otherwise, do any of the above stick out to you? Any feedback would be great. Cheers!!
I pronounce it EE-soolt. I like how [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] sounds, the other way around [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] Mathild. just sounds off to me. I would prefer a simple but pretty middle name rather than longer ones that draw away the attention from [name_f]Iseult[/name_f].
I have a baby girl called [name_f]Iseult[/name_f].
It’s one of those names that has lots of regional variations and pronunciations: Essylt, [name_f]Yseult[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Isotta[/name_f] etc.
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] was an Irish princess and there was also a [name_m]Breton[/name_m] [name_m]French[/name_m] princess called [name_f]Iseult[/name_f].
Ee-sult would be the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation, Iss-ult would be the Irish. Like “insult” but without the “n” lol!
More love for [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] / [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] [name_f]Iseult[/name_f]. Next I like [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I pronounce it the same way as you do, btw. It’s such a beautiful name.
I love [name_f]Iseult[/name_f]! I pronounce it EE-sult or Iz-ult (I prefer EE-sult though). I really like [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]. I also like the previous suggestions of [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]! What about [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]?
My favorites of your picks are [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Margaux[/name_f], and [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] [name_f]Iseult[/name_f].
I like it with something simple and possibly [name_m]French[/name_m]
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Claudette[/name_f]
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]
Technically [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] is the [name_m]French[/name_m] form of the name, and in [name_m]French[/name_m] it’s pronounced “ee-ZEUH”. All the anglicisations are tongue-twisters to me, oddly enough.
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] would be breathtaking, but I can’t warm up to [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] as much.
Yes the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronounce it that way but it’s also Irish. The Welsh version Essylt has a short “I” sound and also pronounces the “L” whereas the Italian [name_f]Isotta[/name_f] drops the “L” (like the [name_m]French[/name_m])
Sometimes the “I” is long, sometimes short.
The Irish pronunciation would have a short “I” sound.
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] can be pronounced Iss-ult or Ee-sult
