I went to school with an [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] and she pronounced it A-la how are you wanting it to pronounced?
I personally prefer [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but I think pronunciation will be a mix of eye-la, ees-la and is-la (just from attempts at reading it).

Would like it pronounced Eye-la either way x

[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] = Aye-luh like hey without the h

[name_f]Isla[/name_f] = Eye-luh like island

Sometimes they’re both pronounced the same. I’m pretty sure the Hebrew name [name_f]Eila[/name_f] is also the same as [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (how you say the first syllable in Eisenhower).

I think you are more likely to get that pronunciation with [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

[name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. I’ve fallen in love with it and I only know Aylas pronounced eye-la this side of the pond.

Ayla has a stunning meaning but I remember not being too keen on how it sounds either.

I would definitely pronounce it Aye-la not Eye-la or A-la though.

All round I think Isla wins for me…

EDIT

…but Ayla is super close!

I’m starting to question my vote now! Especially if you can put up with correcting the pronunciation. You’ll only have to deal with it from time to time. Ayla is a sweet and unusual name, while I’m beginning to grow tired of Isla in the wake of it’s popularity.

I’d go with [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. I would pronounce them the same, but I like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] better when it’s written down.

I intuitively pronounced [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] as eye-la and also [name_f]Isla[/name_f] as ee-sla. I think pronunciation will be an issue for both, although both are relatively known, it’s clear that there are multiple pronunciations.

[name_f]Isla[/name_f] would be more intuitive for most English-speakers. As a Lebanese-American though I in your place would go for [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], one of my favorite names with the prettiest of meanings. You’re good either way

I have heard several [name_f]Isla[/name_f]'s recently. [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] (aay luh) might be more unexpected. Both are beautiful.

I’ve only come across [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] pronounced as Ai-la, so I assumed that’s how you pronounce it. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is quite popular and I think people generally know it’s pronounced Eye-la, so I would use that if you want the Eye-la pronunciation.

I love [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. So beautiful, with a lovely meaning. However, you may spend a lot of time correcting people. if you don’t mind though, my vote is definitely for [name_f]Ayla[/name_f].
Both are very pretty though!

I pronounce [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] as (a-luh). [name_f]Eila[/name_f], Aila, and [name_f]Eyla[/name_f] are all unique and unexpected ways to still get the sound of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (eye-luh).
