What do you think of the alternative spelling? - [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. Which do you prefer and why. I love this name - I know it is increasing in popularity so I was thinking of the [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] variation…
It’s not necessarily an alternate spelling as [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is a different name to [name_f]Isla[/name_f], despite them sounding the same. Personally, I prefer [name_f]Ayla[/name_f].
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]. The image is more evocative for me.
I prefer [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]! I like the literary connection and I actually pronounce them slightly differently ([name_f]Isla[/name_f]- eye-lah; [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]- ay-lah… Like [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] minus the K).
I like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] more than [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. Partially because [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] looks like [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] with the “K” chopped off (and slightly trendy at that, although I’m not very familiar with it, so it could not be?), and partially because I can’t ever tell if it’s EYE-lah or AY-lah. 
I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] just looks much more gorgeous, too. [name_f]Isla[/name_f], definitely for me.

Like previous posters, I pronounce [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] differently and think of them as different names. I prefer [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. I know there’s at least one berry with a little [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] who I’ve seen around the forums in the past. Anyway, they’re both lovely names!
While they don’t have the same origin ([name_f]Isla[/name_f] is Scottish, [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is Turkish) the two names are pronounced the same (eye-lah). I personally prefer [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] but that’s because my mother-in-law is from Turkey, so we have it on our long list for heritage reasons.
This actually has wrong info on this site. [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is Hebrew and pronounced like [name_f]Kayla[/name_f]. Ayela is Turkish, means halo of moonlight, and is pronounced the same as [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is in English but none of these names are related. I like Ayela but ppl would have pronunciation probs
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is not an alternate version and they are not said the say way. [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] (A-Luh) and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (Eye-Luh).

I prefer [name_f]Isla[/name_f] or Aila, [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] always looks like eh-la I know its not but I go there lol . Aila has always been one I’ve thought was beautiful
If you want the [name_f]Isla[/name_f] sound I think you should use [name_f]Isla[/name_f], because I thought the other was A-luh, I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is less confusing.
I knew an [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] and thought her name suited her perfectly! She was wild and silly and sweet, daring, brave, and kind hearted. She’s about 8. I’ve never met an [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. I think both are nice.

I too prefer [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and pronounce these two different. I have known several Aylas and they all pronounce it “ay-luh”.
I like them both but slightly prefer [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

I’m fond of the name [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] as it reminds me of one of my favourites, [name_f]Lyla[/name_f], but the pronunciation isn’t as clear as [name_f]Isla[/name_f].
