- issa names

I really like the sound of -issa names, but am struggling to come up with many.

So far I’ve got:

[name_f]Larissa[/name_f] - don’t really like
[name_f]Marissa[/name_f]*
[name_f]Carissa[/name_f]*
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]- not fond of the ‘Cl’ sound.
[name_f]Melissa[/name_f]- too 90’s

Are there any others you can think of? My favourites from my list would be [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] and [name_f]Carissa[/name_f] (although this one would be out for us as it’s the name of a close friend).

[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering people’s thoughts on names ending in -issa. [name_f]Do[/name_f] they sound too frilly? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think they are feminine sounding? Are they too 90’s (like [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f], etc…[name_f]Melissa[/name_f] fits into this category).

Can you think of any other -issa names or any similar names I might like? Possibly even -essa names? I do love [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], but again we have a close friend with this name. Any thoughts?

Maybe Taissa, like Taissa Farmiga Taissa Farmiga - Wikipedia

Interesting. I haven’t heard that name before. Thank you for the suggestion!

[name_f]Elissa[/name_f] - other name for [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Dido[/name_f], also literary name found in Decameron.

Behind the Name have a fairly extensive list.

I like [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f] and [name_f]Larissa[/name_f] the most. [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] is quite nice, though I prefer [name_f]Marisa[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Marisa[/name_f] as well because that’s my name! But people usually pronounce it [name_f]Marissa[/name_f]. I was born in the 70’s so I don’t think [name_f]Marisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] would be too 90’s, though [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] might be because of the kids show. On a side note, my nickname is [name_f]Missy[/name_f], which would work well with [name_f]Marissa[/name_f].

My favourite is [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f].

[b][name_f]Marissa[/name_f] is very nice. It reminds me of [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] [name_m]Mayer[/name_m], the CEO of Yahoo!.

What about Nefissa? It’s Arabic.[/b]

I went to school with a Noufissa, but she pronounced it new-fee-ssa, so that’s an option, but it depends if the OP wants the iss sound.

From the original list, I really like [name_f]Larissa[/name_f]. There is also [name_f]Anissa[/name_f] and [name_f]Raissa[/name_f] (a variant of [name_f]Raisa[/name_f]).

Kaissa as in [name_u]Kai[/name_u] + issa

I like [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] the best from you list  For -essa names I love [name_f]Nessa[/name_f]!

[name_f]Narcissa[/name_f] is another option! [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f] is very beautiful too.

Aw, no love for [name_f]Larissa[/name_f]? My pride is wounded.

I’m a fan of [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f] and also [name_f]Nyssa[/name_f]. I’ve also always thought just [name_f]Lissa[/name_f] would be a pretty name. If i’m being perfectly honest, I think [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] is just as 90’s as [name_f]Melissa[/name_f].

Wow. Thanks so much for your replies. Sorry, Larkub101 [name_f]Larissa[/name_f] just doesn’t grab me.

I am really liking [name_f]Marissa[/name_f]/[name_f]Marisa[/name_f] though. I think it’s definitely going on the list. Thank you everybody!
