Hello Berries. I return again to this lovely site and your miraculous insight and wisdom because babe #3, if it is a boy, needs a name. Girls names, I got that. Boys names, eek!
[name_f]My[/name_f] two little ones are [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Nico[/name_u] (a boy). Yes, I consulted the berries for both of these names. Thank you.
So, we are italian, last name beginning in C ending in I. Husband favors the Italian names or as [name_f]Pam[/name_f] would say, Italian lite. I don’t really have a preference since [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is not Italian at all.
Here are some that we have considered to give you an idea of our direction but I am not really “in love” with any and need other ideas:
[name_m]Enzo[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Beau[/name_m]
[name_u]Cruz[/name_u] (sounds weird with our last name though - too many C’s)
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Griff[/name_m])
[name_u]Reece[/name_u] (husband doesn’t like)
I love [name_m]Enzo[/name_m]! These have a general romantic-European flair but are entirely recognizable and could probably ‘pass for Italian’ to a non-Name Nerd, if they aren’t already…
I say [name_m]Roman[/name_m]. Think [name_m]Rome[/name_m], [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. It’s on trend with the two syllable, ends in -an/-en sound. It has an Italian vibe but it’s not in your face and it sounds great along [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Nico[/name_u]. It’s such a strong and handsome name!
[name_m]Enzo[/name_m]-I love this…But if not that how about [name_m]Renzo[/name_m]?
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]-Also love this-reminds me of [name_u]Theo[/name_u] another lovely name.
[name_m]Beau[/name_m]-Great name-reminds me of [name_m]Anton[/name_m].
[name_u]Cruz[/name_u]-I don’t love this name like the others.
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]-Great name! Reminds me of [name_m]Jaspar[/name_m].
[name_u]Reece[/name_u]-if hubby does not like this- how about [name_u]Remy[/name_u]?
Other names that remind of [name_u]Nico[/name_u]:
[name_m]Sven[/name_m]
[name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_m]Carlos[/name_m]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_m]Diego[/name_m]
Wow, laza, I can’t believe Nameberry has helped name a family of nearly-three children! Amazing.
Great to see you back. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Nico[/name_u] – what a dashing pair! So…Italian Lite names.
I do like [name_m]Enzo[/name_m] but if you’re not crazy about it, we should keep looking. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is a good match but perhaps too good? Four letters, c in the middle, vowel ending – it’s a bit close.
I love [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] – great idea, Oliviasarah. Also [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] and [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]/[name_m]Teo[/name_m], which seems like a real natural. [name_m]Roman[/name_m] is a cool idea. We also have:
[name_m]Alessandro[/name_m]
[name_m]Arturo[/name_m] (you can call him [name_m]Art[/name_m])
[name_m]Benno[/name_m] (not strictly Italian but it sounds it! Italian Extra Lite!)
[name_u]Cassio[/name_u]
[name_m]Cosimo[/name_m] (loving this but definitely avant garde)
[name_m]Gianni[/name_m]
[name_m]Giorgio[/name_m]
[name_m]Lazaro[/name_m] (mmmmmm! love!)
[name_m]Orsino[/name_m]
[name_m]Ottavio[/name_m]
[name_m]Romeo[/name_m] (romantic but so are [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Nico[/name_u])
[name_m]Timeo[/name_m]
Thank you all for your thoughtful responses! There were certainly a few on here that we are considering. Maybe I just needed a push in the right direction for [name_m]Enzo[/name_m].
[name_f]Pam[/name_f], as always, a real honor to have you respond. [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] is my guilty pleasure name.
Have a wonderful weekend and I will be mulling these great suggestions over.
[name_m]Aurelio[/name_m]- nn [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Marcello[/name_m]- [name_u]Love[/name_u] this with [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Nico[/name_u], since they have a very romantic feel to them.
[name_m]Aldo[/name_m]
[name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m]- nn [name_m]Enzo[/name_m]. That is my cousins name
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_m]Cassian[/name_m]
[name_m]Julius[/name_m]
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u]/[name_m]Valentino[/name_m]
[name_m]Marius[/name_m]
[name_m]Donato[/name_m]
Italian-lite is a style I find incredibly homey and comforting as my hometown is full of 2nd, 3rd, etc. generation Italian Americans who are all intensely proud of their heritage but not looking for something SO strong that you need to speak fluent Italian to get it.
Anyway, the handsomest Italian-lite names I grew up with were:
[name_m]Dante[/name_m]! Can’t believe [name_m]Dante[/name_m] isn’t getting more love. It’s got great flavour but it doesn’t seem to Olde Country Village to get along with [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].
[name_u]Carmine[/name_u] - This is sort of the nonno version of hipster chic, but I really like it. And like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], it’s a colour…?
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m] - This is hardly foreign but I really see it going well with [name_u]Nico[/name_u]. Handsome name, wears well. [name_m]Vin[/name_m] is nicer as a NN than [name_m]Vince[/name_m] and [name_m]Vince[/name_m] is nicer than [name_u]Vinny[/name_u].
[name_m]Victor[/name_m] - Similar to [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], but a little dustier. It has the -er sound ending of popular occupational names, but isn’t popular itself. It’s got a great classic weight to it, without being long.
I really like [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] for similar feel but the ones I know go by [name_u]Nic[/name_u], so too close.
Hey I think you’ve got some great suggestions already…
I needed to mention a little pet-peeve of mine though… when we talk about Italian or Italian Lite men’s names a lot of -o endings come up. It wouldn’t be such a thing ( I love [name_m]Enzo[/name_m] with a fiery passion) but you already have a [name_u]Nico[/name_u] - and it gets very rhyme that way. (I have a similar problem with [name_u]Luca[/name_u] that [name_f]Pam[/name_f] mentioned).
I also like: [name_m]Basil[/name_m], [name_m]Cesare[/name_m], [name_u]Elia[/name_u]/ [name_u]Elias[/name_u], [name_m]Manuel[/name_m], [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], [name_m]Gianni[/name_m], Vincente nn [name_u]Vinnie[/name_u], [name_m]Vitale[/name_m]
