Hi at everyone
I was curious to know which Italian female names you think it’s difficult to pronunce for people which the mother tongue it’s English .
[name_f]Violante[/name_f]
[name_f]Azzurra[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucrezia[/name_f]
[name_f]Letizia[/name_f]
Turchese
[name_f]Sveva[/name_f]
Guendalina
[name_f]Elide[/name_f]
Iride
Venere
[name_f]Lucilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Danae[/name_f]
[name_f]Agnese[/name_f]
[name_f]Ghita[/name_f]
Domizia
Andromaca
I think you’d have problems with any names that contain Gio/Gia, Z, gn, ch or c, -io and those ending in E!
That is unless they’re already popular e.g. [name_f]Chiara[/name_f] or [name_f]Francesca[/name_f].
anything with a gn (e.g. agnella) or a z (e.g. lucrezia) isn’t super intuitive to an english speaker
additionally, most english speakers wouldn’t pronounce a final letter e (e.g. celeste), and pronounce gio- and gia- as two syllables (e.g. gianna as jee-ah-na)
I browsed some Italian names and these are ones that i wouldn’t be totally sure how to say or have had to look up before
[name_f]Andreina[/name_f]
[name_f]Agnese[/name_f]
[name_f]Annunziata[/name_f]
Calogera
Crocifissa
[name_f]Edvige[/name_f]
[name_u]Fiore[/name_u]
Giada/Gianna/Gianina (at least with the Italian pronunciation)
[name_f]Gioia[/name_f]
Taide
Thank you for the list , it will be very userful
Thank you so much for the research I appreciate a lot
I know that [name_f]Agnese[/name_f] it’s a difficult one but I didn’t know about the others names!
From the bit of Italian I studied in school, [name_f]Gioia[/name_f] always gave me a hard time lol
