We finally decided on the name [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m], but looking for middle name suggestions! Our last name is two syllables. We liked [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] but realized it means red haired. We don’t have redheads in our family, so would that be weird? Any help would be great, thanks!
The name [name_u]Reed[/name_u] never even made me think of red haired people. What? Reeds are a type of grass around swamps.
Your right! It’s also a variant of [name_u]Reid[/name_u] which means red haired
Well honestly my head didn’t go towards that at all and I think it’s a cute name I don’t even think a lot of people would know about it or wonder what it means. Unless I just never learned about it when I was in school.
If you don’t want to use it though, maybe one of these?
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_u]Drew[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Jake[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Blue[/name_u]

I really like [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] [name_u]Drew[/name_u]
I don’t think the [name_u]Reed[/name_u]/[name_u]Red[/name_u] Haired connection matters at all. I think [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] sounds great together! But if it really bothers you, what about [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]/[name_u]Reece[/name_u]/[name_u]Reese[/name_u]?
Ok you guys made me feel more confident using it. Thanks for all the suggestions !
[name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] was the full name of [name_m]Jim[/name_m] [name_u]Carey[/name_u]'s character on “Liar Liar”. That may be why it sounds so great, it’s somewhat familiar. That would be a deal breaker for me, but I guess it depends on how much you like [name_m]Jim[/name_m] [name_u]Carey[/name_u].
I don’t think [name_u]Reed[/name_u] would be odd. Considering it’s also word/nature name, it has multiple meanings and doesn’t necessarily need to denote red hair. Also there are names like [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] which are still well loved despite meaning bald. If you love [name_u]Reed[/name_u] use it!
We’re gonna use [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] and yet we have zero red-heads in our family, don’t let meanings sway you too much. Unless the meaning is really terrible…lol. But [name_u]Reed[/name_u] is a pretty common name and many without red hair have it.
[name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] is such awesome, one of my favs that my husband has vetoed.
[name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] is very nice.
