I love this name,.
I believe it is pronounced EE-vo. I’m not sure which I prefer to be honest.
I would pronounce EYE-vo, like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] with an -o but not sure thats correct. I think its handsome either way though.
My father’s name was [name_m]Ivo[/name_m], and everyone I know pronounces it EE-vo. Pronunciation may depend on where you are though - he was from The Netherlands.
EE-vo definitely. In fact, in Portuguese it’s pronounced EE-voo. I personally love this name and it’s on my shortlist for a future baby boy.
[name_m]Reading[/name_m] it just now it sounded more like EE-vo to me. But I could definitely see Eye-vo as well. No preference personally.
Personally, I like EE-vo more.
I pronounce it EE-vo in my head because EYE-vo just doesn’t sound right to me. But I’ve never known one or heard it said aloud, so I don’t know if one or both are correct!
My first instinct would be EE-vo.
In my experience, non-name-nerd Americans who have never encountered it before say EYE-vo. Everywhere else in the world, it’s EE-vo. If you live in a U.S. area with a strong multi-cultural population (especially Eastern European), they are more likely to have encountered it as EE-vo. HTH!
[name_m]Ivo[/name_m] is my grandfather’s middle name and he has always pronounced EYE-vo.
All the people I’ve known with this name have pronounced it EYE-vo, this is in the UK.
