[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] isn’t bad, but [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is stunning! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is a kind of flower that was admired for many years by painters for it’s delicate beauty, because it was difficult to capture in paint, and plus, in Greek mythology [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is the goddess of rainbows.
Elegant purple flowers and rainbow goddesses, can a name really get any better than that?
I love them both! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] was my grandmother’s name (although she was called by her middle name) so it’s high on our list. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is great too, but my cousin has used it for her daughter so off-limits for us.
I love both of them! They are stunning names, but [name_f]Iris[/name_f] wins for me. It’s so sweet and flowery. Extremely pretty. I really like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] but if popularity is a factor to you, it is becoming super popular between newborns I know.
Thanks everyone! I tend to lean towards [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] because [name_f]Iris[/name_f] reminds me of the word ‘virus’ but I do adore the imagery of [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. This is mostly hypothetical because I don’t think my husband will agree to [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f], but I do love it.
I like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] better. I know a little girl named Ivis, and I think I like that better than though.
I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. For me it has the gorgeous vintage vibe of names like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f], combined with sweetness and accessibility of names like [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is vintage, but seems a bit more proper and formal. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] just doesn’t appeal to me as much.
I love both names equally, with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] probably getting a slight edge if I had to choose one.
I’ve never really thought about [name_f]Iris[/name_f] sounding like virus, but I know some ppl here have said [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] makes them think of the medical IV.
I much prefer [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. Visually it’s more beautiful and more appealing to me because of the flower, whereas [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is a bunch of green leaves… I also like that it’s a less trendy and more down-to-earth name. It gives off a more peaceful, serene vibe. I like it a lot.
For what it’s worth, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] sounds beautiful!
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] is lovely. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] makes me think of poison ivy.
I like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] over [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. They’re both lovely but [name_f]Iris[/name_f] just seems harsher to me.
Iris is swoon worthy for me while Ivy is cute. I love Iris & like Ivy. However, in the right combo I can love Ivy. Iris conjures up images of rainbows & beautiful flowers {my absolute favorite}. The eye association doesn’t bother me either, eyes are beautiful. Ivy is spunky and cute but has gone down on my list over the years. Iris will probably be used if I have a daughter I’ve had it on my top list for years {talking about 7+).
Both are gorgeous!
I love both, but [name_f]Iris[/name_f] has the edge for me.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] is beautiful but I voted for [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] as it is more unique and less popular
Depends where the OP is from but in the US [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is currently more popular.
In Greek myth, [name_f]Iris[/name_f] was goddess of the rainbow and the bridge between heaven and earth. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] has my vote.
