My husband and I are considering naming our little girl [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] to honour family on both sides. Is this too masculine for a girl? Would another spelling be preferred?
I think that is adorable! Definitely not too masculine at all.
Maybe [name_f]Jacklyn[/name_f]?
I think it’s cute! You could spell it Jacq as a reference to [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] or [name_f]Jacqui[/name_f] if you’re worried about it being too masculine.
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] is ALL boy. I get wanting to honor family. But come on!
I would definitely go with [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] to honor a [name_m]Jack[/name_m] for a girl. Using [name_m]Jack[/name_m] in the middle isn’t that bad, and it’s for honoring purposes so it’s more acceptable, but I am just one of those sticklers for gendered names.
Middles are where you can be as creative as you like. Go for it! I do like the suggestion of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] Jacq though.
It could work, since it honors family, but I hate to see [name_m]Jack[/name_m] go to the girls side. I absolutely love the suggestions of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f], however. I think it is a beautiful name <3
I don’t think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] will go to the girls because one person uses it, especially since it’s only in the middle. Since you’re honoring family, go for it. You might also consider [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Jacquelyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Jacquetta[/name_f], if you like those.
As a first name I would have said no but in the middle name I think it’s fine. I would use [name_u]James[/name_u] on a girl as a middle name if I used a name ending with ie or a last name with the ee sound.
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is so cool! [name_m]Jack[/name_m] in the middle spot is lovely, and I love the suggestion of Jacq.
I agree. Very cool.
[name_m]Please[/name_m] don’t so it!!!
Hmm… I can appreciate that you want to use [name_m]Jack[/name_m] for honouring purposes, but I don’t really see it working on a girl. However, since it’s in the middle spot it could work. Personally, I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] (or [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Jacqui[/name_f]) sounds better than [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_m]Jack[/name_m].
I like it in that combo [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]! It’s so cute.
If you want a feminine version, [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] could work, but I really like [name_m]Jack[/name_m]!
I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] would be awesome!
Mmm… I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] has too much of a history for being male. It’s a nice idea, but I don’t think it works. However, you could always use the Djaq spelling. I think it’s [name_f]Asian[/name_f], and is still a male name, but if you’ve ever seen the BBC [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood series, there’s a female character called Djaq. (Her real name is Saffiya, but her brother was called Djaq and she nicknamed herself after him). It’s pronounced exactly the same as [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. She’s a pretty good namesake too, as a very strong, smart, sensitive, independent character.
I’m usually not in favour of male names on girls, but I do think the middle spot is the right place to for them. Personally, I don’t care for [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f], so if I wanted to honour a [name_m]Jack[/name_m], I’d use the male variant as well (only in the midle of course).
Middle name only. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is way too boyish to me.
I think it’s lovely. If you like it, go for it. Besides, it’s not like her middle name will be used that often unless she decides to go by it.
