Jack for a girl

I love the sound, but quite like it spelt [name_m]Jac[/name_m] or [name_m]Jaq[/name_m]

I’ve known two women who went by the name [name_m]Jack[/name_m] but in both of those cases, their full names were [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f]. I think it’s nice as a nickname but can’t see it as a full name on a girl/woman.

Yes! I have a niece named [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and love that name! I love boy names on girls so much. [name_f]My[/name_f] parents named me [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] but it always seemed too soft for me so in my teens I decided to go by my middle name [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] - still used mainly for girls but I loved the extra kick to it. I feel it matched my personality much better so if I have a child anything like me she needs a name that’s not ultra feminine :joy: (though I think I’ll give her one of those as well so she can pick what she’d like once her personality develops!)

She’ll definitely have a different full name  [name_m]Jack[/name_m] would just be a nn/pet name. Both me, my husband, and most of my family go by something other than our first names, we’re used to answering to something different in public or official situations so I don’t think it would be that weird for her to also be a part of the name weirdness for the sake of a cute nn :joy:

@BrookebRitter I actually grew up knowing 0 girl’s named [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] and 1 boy named [name_u]Brook[/name_u]… So I had no idea it’s traditionally a girl name  I think it’s a great name, either way!

I’d never heard it either until I started going by it then of course I met probably 5 other girls named [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] in a year! :joy: I think my parents were thinking of the model [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] Shields when they picked it  I love it for boys though!

I love [name_m]Jack[/name_m] as a nickname for a girl and I adore [name_m]Jack[/name_m]-[name_m]Jack[/name_m] on a little kid! And if it worked for your grandmother, why not for your daughter? As long as you give her other options if she decides she doesn’t like it

There’s a character on NCIS called [name_m]Jack[/name_m]! Granted, it’s short for [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f], but she pretty much exclusively goes by [name_m]Jack[/name_m].

I don’t see a problem as a nickname jack for a girl ! I know plenty of [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f], [name_f]Jacqui[/name_f], [name_f]Jaclyn[/name_f]’s that go by [name_m]Jack[/name_m]/Jackie

Other names that could be [name_m]Jack[/name_m]
Ackley
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
Jerrika
[name_u]Jacey[/name_u]
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]

Personally, I think if it is a nickname it’s fine.

Jacqueline would be stunning. Or [name_f]Jacoba[/name_f] would be cute - you could do [name_m]Jack[/name_m] or [name_m]Cobie[/name_m].

I think jt has to be part of the name to make sense.

I actually prefer [name_m]Jack[/name_m] over [name_u]Jackie[/name_u]. [name_m]Jax[/name_m] is also cute. I think these are cute for a girl as long as its short for a more feminine name. I wouldn’t name a girl [name_m]Jack[/name_m] outright personally. But I really like it as a nickname!

I could hear it if it’s for a longer name, like [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f].

No; it’s classically boy.

I wouldn’t recommend it as a standalone. [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] nn [name_m]Jack[/name_m]/Jackie perhaps?

I prefer it as a nickname (for girls and boys), but if I were braver I might use it on its own!

Definitely not on its own. It would make an adorable nickname to [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] though!

Sounds like it worked for great grandmother so it can work for your daughter, too.
