Jack too popular in Bay Area/Northern California?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! [name_m]Jack[/name_m] (or [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]) is a family name that we both love, but we have been hearing constantly that it is super popular in our area - the SF bay area. Is this true?? I know a bunch of 10 year olds with the name, but is it still popular for babies being born in the past couple years? It’s our first baby, so we’re not too plugged into the baby scene yet. Would hate for him to be one of multiple [name_m]Jack[/name_m]'s in his class once he gets to school! Thank you! We’re having such a hard time thinking of an alternate name if it does turn out to be everywhere.

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] is pretty popular everywhere. It’s a great classic name. I am not in [name_u]California[/name_u]. I will say that I occasionally hear it. [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] is the one I cringe on hearing over and over and over. I would use [name_m]Jack[/name_m] in a heatbeat.

Yes, they are both popular now. The [name_m]Jack[/name_m] I know happens to be exactly from that area!

[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] national ranking is 17

Oh, and here is the link for the US names records. Popular Baby Names

I think they are both popular but not so popular they are unusable.

[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] was # 43 in CA last year, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] was #55. ([name_m]Jaxon[/name_m] was #86)

The combined spellings ([name_m]Jackson[/name_m] + [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]) would bump the name up to #20 most popular in CA.

I personally prefer [name_m]Jack[/name_m] on its own. Or you could do [name_m]John[/name_m] nn [name_m]Jack[/name_m]! john was #69 in CA last year.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is a classic great name, whereas I think [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]/[name_m]Jaxon[/name_m] is more ‘trendy’ to me. Both are great though!
Fwiw growing up my name was apparently #31 at the time (looking at rankings now) I only ever met one other girl with my name in school, and I worked with another briefly. I think once you are out of the top 5, the chances of meeting somebody with that name are much lower than you would think.
