Ok, I was under the impression that [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is one of the most overused names ever. But I just realized, in all the places I’ve lived ([name_u]Texas[/name_u], [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m], and [name_u]Colorado[/name_u]) I have NEVER met a [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. Never heard someone call for [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. Never heard the name [name_m]Jack[/name_m] in all the conversations I pass. Never met anyone related to a [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. Or [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], or [name_m]Jax[/name_m], or [name_m]Jaxton[/name_m].
So, is it really that common? [name_m]How[/name_m] many [name_m]Jack[/name_m]'s do you know?
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] has been in the Top 100 in the US for 15 years, and in the 30s and 40s for more than 10 years. So yes, I’d say it’s common, even though I personally only know one [name_m]Jack[/name_m] who’s in the 25-30 age range. I think a lot of times people assume that their surroundings and environment is a perfect reflection of a greater area as a whole, which is simply not the case.
Despite it’s popularity, I have only met one [name_m]Jack[/name_m], and it was a nom de plume rather than his proper name. I can think of far more celebrity Jacks than Jacks I’ve known personally.
I’ve only ever met one [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and he is a teenager. I’ve never come across a little [name_m]Jack[/name_m] either (I’m in NY). I believe its popular but maybe its more of a spread out popularity? [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is a pretty classic name so I could see it being widely used but not overused like some of the trendier names, if you get what I mean. I plan on using it as my first son’s name regardless of popularity, though. I just love the name
There are two Jacks in my family, and both are [name_m]John[/name_m] nicknamed [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. My grandfather also had a now-deceased brother named [name_m]John[/name_m], nicknamed [name_m]Jack[/name_m], so [name_m]Jack[/name_m] as a given name is a fairly new concept to me—I knew only one of those in high school. I guess I’ve met a few little Jacks at work, but I don’t remember them like I remember the Jacksons, Braydens, Tanners, Parkers, and Caydens.
I’ve only ever known one [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. He’s in his mid-20’s now. All the others are [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], [name_m]Jaxson[/name_m], [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m], etc. A girl from HS has a son named [name_m]Jaxson[/name_m] (or is it [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]?) and calls him [name_u]Jackie[/name_u] sometimes, which I love!
My late father was called [name_m]Jack[/name_m] (although his birth name was [name_m]John[/name_m]). The older Jacks may indeed be Johns (like former U.S. President [name_m]John[/name_m] F. [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] who was known as [name_m]Jack[/name_m] to his family and friends) while the younger Jacks may have the nickname as a first name. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] was No# 46 in the US in 2012 (that’s only 7,877 boys) so I’m not surprised if you haven’t run into one of them in your travels. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is moderately popular for a reason. It’s full of character and spunk and it sounds strong and masculine. An added bonus: it’s one of the friendliest names around along with soulmates [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_m]Will[/name_m].
My husbands grandfather is named [name_m]John[/name_m], but goes by [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. My nephew (age 4) is also [name_m]Jack[/name_m] (after the grandfather). I have a co-worker in his 50’s named [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. And I know a three year old boy named [name_m]Jack[/name_m] from my sons play group. I live in [name_f]Alberta[/name_f], [name_f]Canada[/name_f] if thats helpful!
I know only one [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. My 3 year old cousin:).
I’ve known tons of Jacksons but none of them went by [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. They all went by their full names and one was called [name_u]Jackie[/name_u].
I’ve known one [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and he was adorable.
I absolutely love [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. It feel strong, handsome, adventurous…it’s great all over.
I only know of one jack. And I know his full name is john.
I do know a -year-old [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], though. (His siblings are [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] “[name_u]Sammy[/name_u]” and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] SibsetSwoon)
I’ve known several Jacks of various ages (in different locations – [name_m]Ontario[/name_m], [name_f]Canada[/name_f], and Queensland, Australia). It’s popularity doesn’t put me off, though.
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] has been top 10 since the 90’s here and in my home state its at number 2 I know one and a [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]. Its one of my favourites as it seems ageless as in the 1900’s when the NSW charts started it was at 24.
Right now, I know one. And considering that I’m not so fond of him, I think that’s enough!
I know a [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] who goes by [name_m]Jack[/name_m].
I know a [name_f]Jacquelyn[/name_f] who’s [name_u]Jackie[/name_u].
I know [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] who’s sometimes called [name_m]Jack[/name_m].
I was thinking about this the other day. I know that [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is like the “All-American Boy” name (yes, i know it is used and popular elsewhere too), but I’ve only heard it widespread on TV shows or among celebrities.
I know one actual [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. My little nephew is [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], and they were trying to get the nn [name_m]Jack[/name_m] to stick but it hasn’t yet. I know/know of about 10 [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]/Jaxons, in my hometown.
I think it’s more common to hear that name in a story, like titanic lol I have never met someone with that name. I used to work in a daycare and there was a baby named [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] though!
A couple years ago, we had three Jacks in kindergarten at once at my school. We’ve also had a number of [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]'s lately. Makes me sad, as it’s one of my favorite names and is such a classic. I would hate to name a future kiddo of mine “[name_m]Jack[/name_m]” and have him become “[name_m]Jack[/name_m] B.” at school…
I love [name_m]Jack[/name_m], and it’s the only name my mother has ever pressured me to use. The popularity makes that impossible, unfortunately. Lately I’ve been loving [name_m]Ajax[/name_m] as a modern/mythic [name_m]Jack[/name_m] replacement.
