They’re the same name with different spellings, so I don’t really understand how one could be considered overused and the other not. Both spellings are in the top 50 (and with all of its many spellings added together it’s the most popular boy name in the U.S.). That being said, I would prefer the more traditional [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] over [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]. You can definitely still use [name_m]Jax[/name_m] as a nickname.
Good luck!
I think maybe I feel that way because in my neck of the woods the spelling [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] is pretty much all I have ever seen. I have yet to meet or see a [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m], but perhaps that’s just me.
I am under the impression that changing the spelling of a name does not make the name less common or more unique. It only makes the name be more likely to be misspelled. I think that [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] could still be called [name_m]Jax[/name_m] (I pronounce [name_m]Jax[/name_m] like Jacks).
I very much prefer [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]. [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m] looks like a cre8tyv spelling to me, which I’m not a fan of. I’ve actually met more [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]’s than [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]’s, myself.
I prefer [name_m]Jack[/name_m] or [name_m]Jax[/name_m] to [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]/[name_m]Jaxon[/name_m]. But between the two options would lean toward [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]. I think you can still spell the nn [name_m]Jax[/name_m] without the x having to be in the given full name. I also like [name_m]Ajax[/name_m] as a way to get to nn [name_m]Jax[/name_m].
I voted [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] because it’s most likely to endure in popularity and not be dated to our decade in 20 or 40 years. You can look [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m] up on thinkbabynames and see the graph of all the related varients. I think [name_m]Jax[/name_m] can be the nn for [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] no problem
I prefer [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]. Both are in the Top 50, so they will both be pretty common. However, I think [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m] will become dated really soon. You can 100% use [name_m]Jax[/name_m] with [name_m]Jackson[/name_m].
Thanks for the input! We still have time to finalize something and with the way we’re going already it’s going to be a long road all the way up until our son is born!
