I know I know. Everyone will hate it. But I thought of [name_f]Jade[/name_f] as a boys name and I adore it. I named a main character in my book that. I’ve never liked it at all for girls, but it just sounds so fresh to me on a boy. I’ve heard of boys named [name_f]Jayne[/name_f], and it sounds like [name_u]James[/name_u], and [name_u]Jayden[/name_u]. And jade is a kinda masculine stone, not like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] or something. It does have history of use as a boys name, as well. I don’t really see any reason it should be off the table. What do you think?
Someone who thinks like me! [name_f]Jade[/name_f] is definitely a unisex name in my mind. I don’t quite understand why others don’t view it as that, as you mentioned its very similar to [name_u]Jaden[/name_u]. And there are other gemstone names that work for boys, so I don’t think that can be the reason. It sounds boyish enough to me, rhymes with [name_u]Kade[/name_u], [name_u]Wade[/name_u] etc.
I also prefer it on a boy, although I love it for a girl as well. I’m wracking my brain, but I’m almost convinced I knew a boy [name_f]Jade[/name_f] when I was young!
Anyway, so I am in full support of boys named [name_f]Jade[/name_f]! I would love to use it someday myself (for a boy or a girl).
I actually really love [name_f]Jade[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] for boys. I’ve met boys named [name_f]Maddi[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u] too, so I think [name_f]Jade[/name_f] is very usable. It also comes with the handy very-gender-neutral-but-slightly-more-masculine-leaning nickname [name_u]Jay[/name_u] if he prefers something more gendered as he gets older.
I like it a lot, actually more for a boy than for a girl.
I think [name_f]Jade[/name_f] is great for a boy. When I was looking for a longer version of [name_u]Jay[/name_u] for my signature, I considered [name_f]Jade[/name_f]/[name_f]Jayde[/name_f]. I personally think it works better on boys than girls.
Reminds me of the boy name [name_m]Jett[/name_m]. I think it works.
[name_f]Jade[/name_f] is definitely unisex! There a quite a few males, such as [name_f]Jade[/name_f] Puget (guitarist for band AFI), who bare the name. I too actually prefer it on a boy.
Jad is an Arabic boy name. I definitely would not put the E at the end.
I’ve seen [name_f]Jade[/name_f] mentioned for a boy on here, though I’ve never heard it on a boy in real life. As you said, it’s similar to [name_u]Jay[/name_u] and [name_u]Jaden[/name_u] which are both masculine, so it’d be a natural crossover. And a lot of nature names are unisex- [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Ash[/name_u], etc. I’d love to see more truly unisex names! (i.e. considered usable on both boys and girls)
I can’t find much info on that, seems like a different name altogether though. I’m talking about the gemstone name.
The name is listed on Nameberry: Jad - Baby Name Meaning, Origin, and Popularity | Nameberry
Guide des prénoms de garçons et de filles. Meilleurs Prenoms.com : signification et popularité de 20 000 prénoms ([name_m]French[/name_m] national website).
And yes, it has a different meaning
I was convinced on this a few years back, when I saw the (awesome) cricketer [name_f]Jade[/name_f] Dernbach play for [name_f]England[/name_f]. Until then I’d only heard it as a girls name (my sisters middle name to be precise) but now I’m a massive advocate of [name_f]Jade[/name_f] as a boys name, definitely feels tough and strong to me
