Japanese names....?

I’m kinda disappointed in the lack of Japanese names. I mean, I understand that, since there are so many ways to write one word, it could have a negative meaning(like ‘shi’, which can mean four, but can also mean death), but I may just be very biased on this. Japanese has always been one of my favorite languages. Am I the only one that’s a little sad?

I have Japanese heritage, and I think there is a decent selection on NB: 112. Considering the number of origins stored in the database, I think it is quite good. If you are looking for a specific Japanese name, Japan’s top 100 names is a good place to look. NB has some good common / easily assimilated Japanese names, e.g: [name_u]Yuki[/name_u], [name_m]Hiroto[/name_m], [name_f]Amaya[/name_f], that sort of thing. When you consider that there are 677 names with Latin origin in the database (and the majority of English stems from Latin), 112 Japanese names is a very respectable number, in my opinion.

So maybe have a look at those Japanese popularity lists: I found some very lovely names on there, and a few family names. Good luck!
