The other day my friend [name]Jodi[/name] and I were talking about names we thought were cute and she said she’d always liked [name]Jason[/name] for a little girl. I’ll admit that I think boys names on girls are cute, but I’d never given this particular name a thought before. She said she’d spell it like [name]Jaysen[/name]. I was just curious what other berries thought of this.
This isn’t a name I’m considering for my own child; just a curiosity post. Personally, I think that its rank and I’ve told her so. Would you consider this name? What do you think of boy names on girls or vice versa?
I like some boy names on girls, surnames and occupation names. I dont like [name]Jason[/name] for a girl and what really bothers me is changing spellings of boy names for girls. I mean if you want to go with a boy name, spell it properly. [name]Madison[/name], [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Jordan[/name], okay. [name]Madisyn[/name], [name]Emersyn[/name], [name]Jordyn[/name], not okay.
I don’t like boy names on girls, but even if I did I would detest [name]Jason[/name] (or [name]Jaysen[/name], or whatever) on a girl! [name]Jason[/name] is a terrible name even on a boy, [name]IMO[/name].
I don’t know who first decided that the letter Y was feminine, but they need to be slapped. [name]Every[/name] name with a Y is not a girl name and randomly adding Y’s does not magically turn manly names into girl names
As for [name]Jason[/name], I don’t much care for it on boys so I really find it silly on girls
i agree with some others. i don’t like it at all, and changing the spelling just makes it worse. i recently met a dylan (girl) and it was just way too boyish for me. riley, emerson etc sound spunky but jason to me is too well established as a boy’s name
I think some boy names on girls can be cute. The first time I heard [name]Elliott[/name] I thought it was cute. I could see [name]Ezra[/name], [name]Eli[/name], [name]Elias[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Ira[/name], [name]Asa[/name], [name]Beau[/name], [name]Christian[/name]…and the ones that girls already took over feel right like [name]Whitney[/name], [name]Morgan[/name] & [name]Sidney[/name].
[name]Jason[/name] doesnt work yet imo. Maybe [name]Jayla[/name] or Jayma? [name]Jacinta[/name]?
No, I don’t see [name]Jason[/name] (or the awful spelling - [name]Jaysen[/name]) on a girl. Any boy name that ends with -son just doesn’t sound feminine to me, and if my parents had named me “[name]Jaysen[/name]” I would have been pretty angry at them for that, especially when there are a lot more feminine and prettier names out there that are similar enough to [name]Jason[/name] - like [name]Jayla[/name], [name]Jaylynn[/name], [name]Janice[/name], [name]Jasmine[/name]… I don’t like a lot of those names, but all much better choices over [name]Jason[/name]/[name]Jaysen[/name].
Despite boys’ names on girls being incredibly unpopular on this forum and on name nerd forums in general, I don’t really mind them so much. I like some of them.
Having said that, I really, really, really dislike [name]Jason[/name] or [name]Jaysen[/name] on a girl. I’m sort of having difficult expressing how bad of an idea I think it would be without being overly harsh.
I will point out that, in the U.S. at least, [name]Jason[/name] was in the top 10 for boys from 1971-1982, and it was #2 for about half of that time. It’s been in the top 100 from 1966 to today. I imagine that little [name]Jaysen[/name] will be sharing a name with a lot of her friend’s fathers.
[name]Jensen[/name] is very similar and a whole lot better in my opinion.
I don’t like boys names (and generally not unisex names either) on girls at all. As for [name]Jason[/name] specifically, I know so many guys named [name]Jason[/name] that I can’t imagine a little girl walking around with the name. And changing the spelling does not make it more feminine. It just makes it misspelled.
I don’t like it at all. I don’t even like it for a boy. It’s getting a little dated, and I’m not a fan of boys names for girls, so I’m definately not liking this one…
I still like [name]Jason[/name] (spelled correctly) for a boy even though I usually don’t like boy J names and [name]Jason[/name] was a huge jerk to [name]Medea[/name]. That reminds me, I do wish [name]Medea[/name] was more usable as a girls’ name.
Anyway, I suggest [name]Jacinta[/name] as an alternative to [name]Jason[/name] for a girl. It’s ha-SEEN-ta in Spanish, but I’ve known one who goes by ja-SIN-ta in an English-speaking area.
Hate boy’s names on girls, hate randomly adding a Y to make a name feminine trendy. Hate [name]Jason[/name] in general. So can safely say that’s a bit NO.
