Jasper and Twilight

So we’re considering [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] for one of our twin boys. [name_m]Will[/name_m] people be constantly asking if we named him after the Twilight character? I have read the series, and found it nothing special. I thought the movies were horrible. I don’t want people to ask me about it all the time. Should I be concerned or am I just being crazy?!

I don’t really think it would be that much of a problem. You might get it once in a while, maybe from fans of the series, but the character was minor enough and the name isn’t completely unheard of, so I don’t think in general that the name is only associated with Twilight. My sister’s name is also one of a well-known cartoon character, and we are almost never asked if that’s what she was named for.

No, I don’t think so. The Twilight craze peaked a while ago, [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] was a minor character and people who didn’t follow the books/movies likely only know or remember the names of the big three main characters, and I think the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] was beginning to increase in popularity before the books came out anyway. I think you should be safe. [name_f]Love[/name_f] the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]!

but I adore the name.

Not sure how popular it has become or will become b/c of the series, but a brilliant name is a brilliant name and no one can take that from you.

I think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is fine and fairly Twilight-free on his own or paired with other names of the same style. It’s when the sibset also contains [name_u]Carlisle[/name_u]/[name_m]Edward[/name_m]/[name_f]Alice[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]/etc. that people will immediately assume you’re a fangirl.

The Twilight craze has passed, so I doubt it.

My sons name is [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. He’s one and no one has ever asked me that.

What’s your other twins name going to be? I ask because I need a name for [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]'s brother being born in less then three weeks. And I am stuck.

I really like the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. I would not have even known it was associated with Twilight had it not been mentioned on this site – haven’t read those books or seen the movie(s?), don’t plan to, etc.

This is exactly what I would have written if Sessh hadn’t beaten me too it. I think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is absolutely lovey, I adore the english [name_m]JAS[/name_m]-pər pronunciation. It would have it in my top ten if it sounded remotely the same in the three languages regularly spoken in our home: [name_m]German[/name_m] (YAHS-pər), English ([name_m]JAS[/name_m]-pər) and Spanish (HAS-pər).

I feel like the name [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] spiked up in popularity due to the twilight books. I haven’t seen the movies, but I read the first book in high school and remember the character’s names. I definitely think Twilight when I see an [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f] or [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. However, I expect that it will fade over time.
