Right now we’re exploring either [name]Leo[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] or [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Leo[/name] for baby #2 due in [name]January[/name]. DH says that [name]Jasper[/name] strikes him as a “hillbilly” name, which I was surprised to hear… I have completely different associations with it! I think of it as either a Country-Western type of name (like [name]Wyatt[/name]) or a quirky British artist. Either way, the hillbilly thing doesn’t bother me at all and DH says he’ll get over it if we choose [name]Jasper[/name] as a first name
[name]Leo[/name], on the other hand, reminds DH of an older gentleman. I have a similar assocation, but can also easily see [name]Leo[/name] on a young intellectual or even a friendly, outdoorsy type. It seems a little more subtle and understated than [name]Jasper[/name].
So what assocations do you guys have with [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name]? What types of men are these? And once you’ve told me that, share which combo is your fave
I really like [name]Jasper[/name]. I could not tell you specificaly WHY that is lol. I think [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Leo[/name] flows a bit better. But either way they are good strong names!
[name]Jasper[/name] what a handsome name. It has both the classy British feel to it and the feel of the more hippie or ‘green’ parent because jasper is a stone too.
I love the nn of [name]Jazz[/name] I think it is a very today vibe to it and I would not hesitate on using [name]Jasper[/name] in the first name spot.
[name]Leo[/name] is solid and serious with possibly a Greek background. It is a manly name that is timeless. His nn would probably be [name]Lee[/name]. I like the combo of [name]Sebastian[/name] [name]Leo[/name].
[name]Jasper[/name] would be my pick for the fn spot.
I understand where your husbands “hillbilly” impression comes from. [name]Jasper[/name] gives me the same impression. I still like the name but not as much as I like [name]Leo[/name]. [name]Leo[/name] is more dynamic than mellow [name]Jasper[/name]. I picture a [name]Leo[/name] being an inteligent, well spoken, and slightly comical person. [name]Leo[/name] is full of life imo.
I really like [name]Leo[/name] and would have considered it if we were having a boy. And I can see the hill-billy connotations of [name]Jasper[/name]. [name]Leo[/name] just seems to me like someone with a witty sense of humor who is full of life!
To me [name]Leo[/name] is laid back, fun and sociable but also quite intellectual and perceptive. It’s very youthful to me and interested in a lot of things without being superficial or too serious and straight laced.
[name]Jasper[/name] on the other hand is stuffy to me and doesn’t have much of a sense of humour. I can’t imagine a young jasper or one who isn’t pretty uptight and frankly, a bit boring.
Those are two of my favorite names. I actually have a similar impression of each of them. For some reason, I picture someone kind of cool and mysterious, a man of few words but when he says something it’s insightful or witty. He’s the kind of guy everyone wants to be “in” with. And very smart and handsome.

Although [name]Jasper[/name] has many flings he never settles down he dedicates his life to his art work and [name]Indigo[/name].
[name]Leo[/name] is from french parents [name]Romain[/name] and S”verine. [name]Romain[/name] relocated the family to NYC when he became the French ambassador to Usa. The family has also lived in Spain, south [name]Africa[/name] and [name]Canada[/name]. [name]Leo[/name] is an intellectual who enjoys reading and has a hunger for learning. S”verine had some success as a singer back in [name]Paris[/name] but she gave up that dream when she met a young handsome politician [name]Romain[/name].
