[name_u]Jean[/name_u] is my grandmother’s middle name and what she went by as a child. She has been very vocal about her hopes that she’ll one day have a great grandchild named [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. So, I’ve decided to give it a bit of space on my list.
What do you think of the name [name_u]Jean[/name_u]? Are any of the combos below keepers? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any middle name suggestions?
I think [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is lovely and feels fresh and stylish to me as it has been little used for a few decades.
I really like these: [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. Maybe the last 2 are my favourites.
I really like [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f].
If you’re not sure about [name_u]Jean[/name_u], maybe [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] (pron. [name_f]Jeanie[/name_f]) would work just as well as an honor name?
@araminty: I could definitely see [name_u]Jean[/name_u] as a fresh choice. Thanks!
@erin beth: [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are adorable. Thank you!
@electric_sheep: [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is so cute, but unfortunately [name_u]Jean[/name_u] rings masculine in the combo to me.
@racheltheworm15: I’ve never heard [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] being pronounced as [name_f]Jeanie[/name_f], only as [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. It’s an interesting idea! I’m pretty content with just [name_u]Jean[/name_u] though because of it’s meaning to me.
It’s looking like the most well liked combos from my list are [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] with two mentions each. I’d love to have some more input!
I like [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] best, followed by [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] (I like the Scottish feel! :))
As for [name_u]Jean[/name_u] herself - I’ve been reconsidering her lately and deciding she definitely isn’t as fuddy-duddy as she once was. I like the strong, stylish, clean-cut feel, and the warmth and friendliness. [name_u]Joan[/name_u] perhaps is closer to being in style than [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is, but I like both.
@fionnabhair: [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is one of my favorites so I’m glad to see someone else likes it. I also enjoy your suggestions of [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. Thanks!
Personally, I prefer [name_f]Jane[/name_f] but [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is a nice name. I really like [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]. Both would be lovely to honor your grandmother.
I like [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].
I looked at this thread earlier but couldn’t think of a suggestion that I really liked with [name_u]Jean[/name_u], that I felt fit both the retro vibe but also the use in the modern era but about 5 minutes ago [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] came to mind, which I really like (though I can understand [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] isn’t for everyone).
@opheliaflora: [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] is adorable! I love the name [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] anyway but it’s a great combo. Thank you!
Personally I’d prefer [name_u]Jean[/name_u]/[name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] as part of a double-barreled name. [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]-[name_u]Jean[/name_u], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]-[name_u]Jean[/name_u]?
@mamanamer: A double-barreled [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is cute but it’s not really my style. I am quite fond of [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]-[name_u]Jean[/name_u] though! [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] hasn’t been on my list in a while but I could see it making a comeback with [name_u]Jean[/name_u] (minus the hyphen). Thank you!
@kth96: I was never really a huge fan of [name_u]Jean[/name_u] myself but lately I’ve been changing my tune. Honoring is making all the difference for me. [name_f]Jeannie[/name_f] would be cute for the right person. Thanks!
[name_u]Jean[/name_u] is great! It’s both classic and spunky.
I’d use it in a heartbeat but it’s too matchy with sister [name_u]Angie[/name_u].
[name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is so cute, it really stood out to me, although other combos are nice as well.
