I’m fairly neutral towards [name]Jesse[/name] as a name. If you’re intention is to have it as a middle name then I think it’s a fine way to make a family connection. I’m ambivalent if your intention is to have it as a first name.
This is very similar to what [name]Will[/name] and [name]Jada[/name] Pinkett [name]Smith[/name] did with their children [name]Willow[/name] and [name]Jaden[/name]. I think it’s a cool idea as long as dad gets a daughter with a name similar to his.
Oh that is a really interesting point agirlinred, thanks! he is [name]John[/name] and I do love [name]Johanna[/name] ([name]Jane[/name] too but [name]Johanna[/name] is better with our short last name). We would be an all J family then, though…BUT that may be better than just one with J and the other(s) left out…there is a family tradition on his side for first born to be J, so I’ve gone back and forth on how I feel about this. Thanks!
I voted I like the name and am fine with this. I would have loved to vote “Jesse’s nms but I’m fine with this.” I think Jesse’s a fine name and I don’t have any problem with you using it… it’s just not my style personally. I have Asher (probably nn Ash) on my list, and that’s obviously close, since I’m Ashley. I always was put off by Ash names in general because I thought they were too close, but after posting about it a while back I realized it was doable. In the real world, I’m predominantly Ashley, so if I ever have an Asher, he could be nn’d Ash (or the full Asher) quite easily.
The only thing I would caution you is to make sure you each have a distinctive nickname… If you are predominantly Jess, then he’ll have to always be Jesse, or some nickname not related to his name. It would be really confusing, obviously, if you were both Jess, or both Jesse/Jessie, the majority of the time.
Thanks [name]Ash[/name]! You know, on many levels its not my style either, but I also think I’ve just never spent time considering it because of my own name. It is Biblical and handsome, so on those levels I should like it. But yeah, just thinking about it. That’s cool you’re considering [name]Asher[/name] - a very nice name : D.
Yeah, I never go by [name]Jessi[/name]/[name]Jessie[/name], so that’s fine, but I do go by [name]Jess[/name] - so that would rule that out for him, and it probably might be too confusing. But it’s nice to get some positive response here.
