Joana vs Joanna vs Johanna and other Jo- names?

Would love to know which you prefer and why! And what other [name_u]Jo[/name_u]- names besides [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] do you like? Thank you all so much

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I really like [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]! Also, [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] is cuteā€¦ or maybe [name_u]Josie[/name_u]? I also think [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] is cute.

Of those, my favorite is [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]. But I also like [name_f]Johanne[/name_f] which is not one you mentioned! The ā€˜hā€™ seems more classic to me, for some reason. I love ā€˜[name_u]Jo[/name_u]ā€™ names, I think theyā€™re so classic sounding. My favorites are:

[name_f]Joely[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolie[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolina[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolette[/name_f]
[name_f]Jora[/name_f]
[name_f]Josanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Josette[/name_f]
Jova (not on Nameberry, but a feminization of [name_m]Jove[/name_m] / [name_m]Jupiter[/name_m])
[name_f]Jovie[/name_f]
[name_f]Jovienne[/name_f]

Prefer [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] for its classic simplicity, but [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] is good too ā€” the H adds some heft. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t care for [name_f]Joana[/name_f]; Iā€™m not sure Iā€™d know to pronounce it like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] (vs. [name_u]Joan[/name_u]-a).

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Josie[/name_u] as a full name!

I like [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] pronounced yo-HAN-na, I know a Danish person named that

I never can decide if I prefer [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Johanna[/name_f].

[name_f]Joanna[/name_f], followed by [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]. I pronounce them differently, jo-an-ə and jo-hahn-ə. And [name_f]Joana[/name_f] is jo-ah-nah.

I seem to be the odd one out but I pronounce [name_f]Joana[/name_f] like [name_m]Jonah[/name_m]. I have an Aunt who goes by [name_f]Joani[/name_f], whose name is [name_f]Joana[/name_f].
I know someone named [name_f]Joelle[/name_f], which sounds very poetic to me, but it still seems a bit ā€œmade upā€ and therefore has less of a strong femininity to it (which I prefer in girl names!) Joselle is the same.

[name_f]Johanna[/name_f] (jo-HAH-nah) is my favorite of the obvious names, but it and names like it invite the opportunity for the long A pronunciation that I greatly dislike.

I have a soft spot for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u], so I feel as though we have different taste but here are some others I can think of:

[name_f]Jolie[/name_f]
[name_f]Jolene[/name_f]
[name_f]Jovie[/name_f]
[name_f]Joslyn[/name_f] (another favorite)
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_u]Jodie[/name_u]

I like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] the best. Itā€™s my sisterā€™s name, sure, but I think it has a feminine, peppy, positive sound. [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] feels very forcedā€¦the H in it anyway. [name_f]Joana[/name_f] could go either wayā€¦is it [name_u]Joan[/name_u]-ah (like [name_m]Jonah[/name_m]) or a shorter form of [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]? A bit too confusing.

The only other [name_u]Jo[/name_u]- names that I like, besides [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], are [name_u]Josie[/name_u], [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] (except for the [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] association), and I really like Jova, that someone else mentionedā€¦I never heard of it before though.

I prefer [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] as far as sound goes. I like the look of [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] better, it looks a bit more finished, but the H gives it a different pronunciation, as many others have said.

As for other [name_u]Jo[/name_u]- names, I likeā€“
[name_f]Jolie[/name_f]
[name_u]Jodie[/name_u]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_u]Josie[/name_u]
[name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Jocasta[/name_f] (I would never use this, but I think itā€™s kind of cool)
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]/[name_u]Jorie[/name_u]
[name_u]Joey[/name_u]
[name_f]Journey[/name_f]
[name_f]Joelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] are beautiful!

I think [name_f]Jora[/name_f] is lovely as suggested above. Also really like [name_f]Joni[/name_f].

[name_f]Jonquil[/name_f] is an interesting, very unusual floral option.

My name is [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] and I really love it. I donā€™t go by any nickname, nor did I ever really meet any other girls in my class with my name growing up. (Iā€™m 30.) Iā€™ve met Joannas and Johannas aplenty, but never really any other [name_m]Joannes[/name_m].

[name_f]Johanna[/name_f] is absolutely stunning!

My favorite is [name_u]Joan[/name_u]

My personal faves are [name_u]Joan[/name_u], [name_m]Joe[/name_m] and [name_f]Josey[/name_f].
